microtex soft touch?

If so, those are one of my favorites.

If you get the fizik, get the dual tape. Right now, I'm using Specialized Roubaix tape and I actually am liking it.

That sounds right. It'd be great if I had put some gel under it.

Today I got my first sweat salt rings. Harsh part about rockin' dark synthetic shirts.

As for the trail, I have no idea. It seems we took Williams street going east, and entered a bike path which turned into a hard packed dirt / gravel path, and went along the coast. If you have bigger tires, there seem to be more options. At some parts the road was entirely gravel and I was drifting all over the place.

It has even further inspired me to build a legit cross bike. I may be taking a frame-building class with Jaytron and Jandro to create this frame, so we'll see. Riding on a frame I welded together, with custom geometry, sounds really awesome. You should join us in this class for an even bigger discount (it seems $900-$1k is the lowest price, depending on tubing choice).

Oyster Bay Trail. Sweet. That's where my usual loop ends, just not on dirt, haha.

As for CX bikes, as much as I'd love to build my own frame, for a thousand bucks I'd get the civilian.
I'm looking at a raleigh furley as well.

and thanks everyone for bartape help. I'll give them all a feel when I next head to the lbs.

Both good bikes. I would get the Civilian... that bike looks amazing... I would ride it all over SF (there are some great dirt paths here) and ignore all potholes and curbs. It also weighs less than 17 pounds without pedals. Damn.

That's nuts. It's steel with disc brakes. holy ****. Must be that massive carbon fork.
wtf man, i cant figure out how it could be that light.

I want one so bad now.

Tonight I drankl way too much beer and decided that with all this Campy stuff kicking around that I would downgrade my Ron Cooper to NR from it's Mk2 Cyclone... it gained a few grams but I will get that back when I glue up some new tubbies to the high Flange hubs and GP4 rims I have sitting here.

My C&V side is sinking.

The Campy looks really good on the Ron Cooper... really really good.

Suntour Cyclone Mk1 and Mk2 are some of the nicest derailleurs ever made in terms of weight (lighter than Superbe) and the performance is the standard by which all others get judged around here.... my Proctor runs Cyclone Mk3 which isn't quite as nice as it's predecessors but I will fix that.

That being said... the NR handles the 13-21 Regina 7 speed beautifully and if I rebuild it to include a 24 tooth low it should handle that just as well... the NR front is nice but the Cyclone Mk2 is nicer by just a little bit. Swapped my Zeus shifters for Campy but will be keeping the Zeus centre pulls as they are insanely good brakes that are mated to Campy Victory levers.

If I ever find the rest of the Zeus bits I need to complete that groupo then I will look at changing the brakes to NR... but that will be a pricey adventure as I need a crank ($$$) and a rear gigantic hub (I have the front) but have the front d, pedals, brake levers, cable guides, and brakes.

Picked up some 28 spoke 600 tri colour hubs today so will be building some wheels around these and with this I have a nearly complete 600 tri colour group that I will be installing on my Proctor to have an 8 speed sti equipped road bike with a little wider range for excursions into the valley. Just need to find 600 levers, brakes, and shifters...

I'm sure it does. I found this great little collectors shop tucked away in the middle of the city. I want to visit it more often, the owner seems to like me and maybe he will help me find a neat frame my size. Since I don't have a large collection of parts or any group sets I would transfer everything over from my Motobecane to build a reto-roadie. I'm done with this race frame

Today I learned that after many miles, I think I'd rather have my Kagero one size smaller with a longer stem than the one I have.. I also want compact drops and hoods, and a new saddle.. BAD!

What other bikes have you had, and in what size?

My only other fixed gear was a Kilo TT in 50cm, I had a stem that was too short on it though.

hamfoh 05-13-12 01:40 AM

one smaller but with a longer stem? sounds like you want a TT the current size you have then :D so do you want more saddle to bar drop? can always slam the stem.

calv 05-13-12 01:43 AM

No it's mainly because I want more seatpost to show, haha. I'm so vain.

gigantor 05-13-12 02:06 AM

Today I moved two spacers above my stem for the road bike. I used to have 3 spacers below the stem, now I have only 1.

I want this bike to be my roadie so bad

jimmytango 05-13-12 03:10 AM

Today I rode up to a bar and heard a dude say, "Man, that's that guy I was talking about with the carbon wheel and the bike chain saddle lock. He's fast as ****. I heard he's doing the Tiny Fix (Kaz's bike club) alleycat." ****ing awesome.

Edit at 545am: Also, this is more drunk than I've been in forever. It's kind of nice because my brain stops worrying about things. Autocorrect is the only reason this is intelligible at all. Man, not thinking is pretty awesome.

calv - don't base your bike fit on a Thomson logo.

Today I'm on rest day #2 of the week. For the past month I have had only 3 rest days, so this one will be the 4th one. I figure these are important and will enjoy every minute of it.

Monday I'll break in the legs and tune up the bike... Should be good.
