I completely disagree. That stretch looked like there was barely, if any, shoulder and if you moved to the right cars would try to pass too closely. The cars had several other lanes to use to pass if they needed to; it's not like it was a one-lane street.

(Having said that, I probably wouldn't ride on a street that fast/heavily trafficked, but sometimes you don't have other options.)

I agree that there is no shoulder, but I feel like you should always be as far to the right as safely possible.

He didn't do that.

Ultimately it's a personal choice as to whether or not cars would pass to closely. My personal space bubble on the bike is very small, probably too small for my own safety in urban situations.

I'd let cars pass

I wouldn't either. When you go as far right as possible, you make cars think they can squeeze past you, even if they shouldn't. I do ride to the right when there's enough room for me and a car, but when there isn't, I take the lane.

Exactly. "As far right as safely possible" is not very far right, I'd have taken the whole lane too. The further right he'd have gotten, the less safe it would have become. People in cars don't know how to handle people on bike.

every1 has a different safety bubble i suppoz

drivers get pissed and hate u or you endanger urself.

u cant win this one. :(

Today I got bitten by something nasty as I was digging in a big box of packing material. I don't know what it was but I'm not going looking for it (that's Angie's job).

See the bull**** I go through for you guys?

ddeadserious 05-09-12 12:38 PM

Screw that dude. That's messed up.

Nagrom_ 05-09-12 12:42 PM

What manufacturer shipped you a tarantula?

Scrodzilla 05-09-12 12:57 PM

Seriously. I may go get it checked out. The back of my hand is now swollen like a mother****er and feels hot.

lol yes!

craigcraigcraig 05-09-12 03:01 PM

today I rode the mtb and watched top gear.

Scrodzilla 05-09-12 05:15 PM

That SpiderMon pic is awesome.

Went to the clinic, got a shot/some antibiotics and everything should be okay. The doc said it would have been much uglier if a brown recluse sunk his teeth into me. The back of my hand is still really swollen and aches like a bastard though.

I'm glad that you got it checked out and that you're not dying. Seriously.

Sweet christ.

Saw this on the way to school today, and snapped a pic when biking home. This guy has done 4-5 pieces on this wall, every time it's painted over the same day :( Shame.

Good grief it's that stargate portal again.

Today I helped my grand father move some furniture around. Wasn't raining so I was lucky enough that my shoulder wasn't throbbing, but went for a ride with the dmr instead.

RGNY 05-09-12 07:54 PM

had Taco Bell for the first time in about two years. still the same.

saw The Avengers with the wife. lots of fun. Hulk stole the show.

i either have to get actual rain gear, or admit to myself that i'm a part time bike commuter. the weather this week is killing me. :/
