Today I'm getting a new (old) road bike from my uncle who upgraded from his old steel roadie. Seriously stoked. I asked him what group was on there and he said, hesitantly, dura-ace. Time to see if that's true in an hour!

Congrats!
Still have another (easy) semester, but there's no ceremony in December. Feels good being so close to finished after five years in school. |

Anyone else catch the tour of cali today? |
Today I:
No, I had to be at work. Wtfwtfwtfwtf. My friends out at Mt. Baldy yesterday and were filmed running with the riders.
|
today i spent an awesome 90 min on the fixed gear. 42/18t
about 60 of it was spent at a local park on dirt trails. there i attempted to ride up and down **** that was way too sandy/steep, eating ****, being sketchy and generally being a jackass. it was a blast. there was one hill (about 200' long) where I literally skidded down the whole thing. at one point a family walked around the bend on a long steep hill to find me on the ground, team kit/shaved legs, with one-foot still clipped in to my track bike w 23c slick tires. we both laughed. |
^awesome.
|
got in an early morning ride before it went up to 90F.
first day of a/c in the bedroom and first day of mosquitoes. sorely tempted to fog the backyard, regardless of adding death to the water table... currently trying to figure out if an 80's Guerciotti at a local antique/consignment shop is the vintage roadie i've been looking for. assuming it's an Italian BB, but hoping for English. little overpriced, but the local used market is near non-existant. also on eBay, and i'm afraid of getting sniped.... |

Today I had a fun 44 mile road ride.

Today I:
Well today I saw my first solar eclipse. I just used a piece of construction paper with a tiny hole poked in it. Worked pretty well until the clouds came in, then I didn't need eye protection to see the eclipse
|
I used my oakleys, and 2 light filters from a friends camera. It was pretty cool.
|
Funniest thing was seeing all these people by the beach just staring at the sun.
|
I used a black trash bag folded over itself. Eclipses are rad.

Just ride around on trash night and yard sale day and something will fall intO your lap, that's how I found an abandoned dx3000 for 15 dollars and after cleaning it and doing a little refurb turned 50 dollars into 300
|
Well somebody lives too close to the coast and the often overcast skies chose to be there during a solar eclipse today. =/
|
There was an eclipse?

Today I went on a fixed gear ride through SF. Got held up a bit by the bay to breakers, but it was well worth it.
I also picked up a used ultegra 6600 rear derailleur for free. On the way back I decided to exert myself a bit : http://app.strava.com/rides/8971117# Ended up with 2 top 10's, and 2 PR's. One of the PR's was up a local climb, Guadalupe. I beat my last time by 30 seconds which I am happy with. Then I got home and installed the RD. Fuel for today's ride (krispy kreme, malformed donuts, but still tasted good and got 5 free) : https://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos...59911812_n.jpg Plastic bag of doom : http://www.collectivedesign.net/bike/plasticbag.jpg My old rear derailleur. It served me well! http://www.collectivedesign.net/bike...derailleur.jpg New derailleur installed : http://www.collectivedesign.net/bike/newderailleur.jpg I feel complete now... Both my bikes work, and I went on a hard ride after taking a day off the bike. |
back in the game!
|
ride all the bikes!
