Today I finally re-dished my wheel; I rebuilt them a month ago and didn't re-dish it.

That's a great story. Keep us posted!

Alas, the taxi driver that spotted people hacking the u-lock off at a specific address (3838 W George St, for those in the area) saw it happen on Saturday, the day it was stolen. Feeling a little discouraged now, trail is colder. Since they got the ulock off it will likely be sold soon. Here's the bike's listing on the Chicago Stolen Bike Registry. They unbolted the street sign the bike was locked to. This is my biggest fear when locking up a bike - racks are in short supply in Chicago and they took away most of the parking meters to sell out street parking to some private company.

today I blew a tube on the way home. I had a shop put it in because i was waiting on serfas to send me a new head for my pump and while riding home from the grocery store I heard the loudest pop (stopped traffic :p). I'm guessing over-inflation, split the thing right at the seam. probably doesn't help it was a piece of **** nashbar tube.

Yesterday I:

Bought RB019s from the LBS and got a free 26.0 Origin 8 stem to go with it because it was a lil nicked up and was missing a bolt to tighten the bar in place (had extra at home).
Got the bike I found by the dumpster up and running, all off extra parts I had laying around.. LBS helped out with some of the labor (for free).

Now I need some super cushiony-comfy bar tape, suggestions NAOW!

LizardSkins is good. So is Fizik Microtex. You can get LizardSkins at Retrogression too.

Fantana 06-27-11 05:37 PM

Sweet, thanks!

Today I found out the saddle on the 930 is the most expensive part on the bike. ($195)

+1 for Fizik Microtex

I'm using Fizik dual tape, so good so good.

Did a nice paced 20 mile group ride we call the "Pie Ride". Its a ride 13 miles out to a pie bakery (stop for pie) then 7 miles back in. Along the route are 3 'sprint areas' where the faster riders can sprint (usually a couple minute sprint each time) and slow down by a certain area as to keep the entire group intact. Bunch of really awesome people on the ride so it is really fun and allows all arrays of local cyclist to join the ride.

I love my lizard skins, but the sticky part (for lack of a better term) didn't work very well, and now I have slightly unwrapping tape. Maybe it was the heat? It sat in a garage for around 2 weeks in 90+ degrees. I don't know. Rewrapping it tomorrow probably.

Squirrelli 06-27-11 09:13 PM

Couple minute sprints? Sound agonizing, yet fun.

Ugh, today I had to bust an emergency skid literally a block from the house. During the skid I actually felt my crank slip.. What are the possible damages? Something loose or did I strip a hub?

Squirrelli 06-27-11 09:50 PM

Loose lockring/cog, I'd imagine. Probably no harm done.

Just watched To Live and Ride in LA:

-Better camerawork than MASH or Macaframa
-MUCH better music than MASH or Macaframa
-More interesting "story". More characters/talking/funny junk ("breaking into" Encino in the middle of the night to have a massive party/race)
-BMX rider showing up FGFS riders
-Footage of Keo Curry riding backwards, played backwards, so all the cars are driving in reverse!
-Quote from trailer about riding harder and faster than anyone else was absent
-About 72 Velocity stickers

The riding wasn't always as cool as in the other two films, but as a whole the movie was much more entertaining. Definitely worth the $2.99 iTunes download.

It was. I wasn't as hydrated as I should have been and after the first sprint I thought I was going to pass out. Luckily right after was our stop for pie so I got to take a little breather and get some more water in me for the end.

Really? I have heard good things about it. Is it a feature or a short?

Biked ~40mi to Ocala to visit my parents on the new whip. Got rained on a little bit, stopped at an ice cream place to get out of the rain and met an old Italian guy on a Colnago with full Record going the opposite way. Had a good talk, filled up my water bottles, and continued on. My dad insisted on giving me a ride back (good thing, too... stormed the entire drive). Still managed to bike 54mi in one day, so it was a good workout.

btw I found my new weekend bike route. So beautiful, so shady, no traffic. Incredible. One of the prettiest 8 mile stretches I've been on in a while. Complete with a mid-19th century graveyard. Would have stopped, but it was about to rain.

Around an hour including the short credits, same as Mash and Macaframa.

Bought a new hand pump, some new tools and such :)

tried pumping up my front tire

snapped my valve...

PSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSs was the sound my soul made

Squirrelli 06-28-11 10:43 PM

Your soul sounds awfully lot like a tube. Interesting stuff.
