Woke up at 7 to ride 45 miles, but it was raining so I went back to sleep. Worked 9 hours, then ran 3 miles to make up for not cycling. Longest run ever, yay!

xavier853 07-09-11 10:36 PM

Did the Inception Alley Cat race in columbus!

Sixty Fiver 07-09-11 11:01 PM

Spent most of today with a torch in my hand... :)

That is the coolest thing!

FixMe 07-09-11 11:16 PM

Yelled at a bunch of cars for doing illegal U-turns and almost running right into me and my friends. Wildwood gets crazy in the summer.

There are few ways I would rather spend my day... was cold and wet and we had the wood stove fired up, the coffee was hot, and I love the smell of flux in the morning... :)

It is my life's dream to build frames and to fabricate parts and I get to work with a master builder... today I built a custom rack for a customer and tomorrow I will do more re-fitting work and when I am done that will do more custom work on one of my bikes.

Sixty Fiver 07-10-11 12:48 AM

I also drove today which is rare as I might drive 1-2 times a year... borrowed a friend's car to haul stuff to the frame shop and enjoyed some of the looks from other drivers at stop lights when they had to do a double take when they did not see anyone in the driver's seat.

My friend's car is right hand drive... :)

Find that it is not a difficult adjustment as the view from the right hand is about the same as I see when I am cycling although I kept turning on the wipers when I wanted to signal as these controls are reversed.

:)

Squirrelli 07-10-11 12:51 AM

Today, I finally built my first 32h hybrid crow foot, took me forever but man, does it feel good! Need to get the spokes for the rear wheel sometime soon. :D

Squirrelli 07-10-11 03:34 AM

Kind of annoyed with how tight the tires are when I tried to mount my 25c on it and I had a panic attack and thought the rims where 27" but they were not high enough.

I tried fitting different 23c's on them and they are a ***** to mount...curse you rim height!!!

Not Today but Friday I rode for the second time this week with Hairnet. We bombed the Midnight Ridazz Momma's and Poppa's ride with old school LA riders and had a pretty good time! Today I woke up early for a race and decided to stop by and finally check in with Bikeforums!

Not today, but yesterday my eBay circa 1939 Paramount track bike frameset arrived. The rattlecan paint job hides a rust-free dent-free straight frame. Serial number is A853. The plan is to have Waterford do a collectable restoration 1939 paint job and build it up with period correct pista components.

today, in portland, getting read to eat mad bfast

but yesterday, but made it to portland with 11hr rolling time on the StP

fastest (and first) 205m i've ever done.
fastest century ever (a bit over 5hrs)

saw 4 fixed riders doing the one day ride tho.
one had huge track gearing (which i think would be the only way to do it)
and the others had spinny ratios

fixedgear80 07-10-11 12:19 PM

Complete Total Breakdown and Rebuild of my conversion. Just waiting for the lube to dry a bit before test riding. Might install my custom rack afterwards.

stovb 07-10-11 01:34 PM

today i learned via my neighbor that chainsaw bar oil is an quite good idea to use as bike chain oil

Ugh. I made it about 10 miles before I melted.

Today I:

Pulled a Squirrelli and meant to go on a really nice ride on the Prez, but realized I didn't have any way to take my aqua with me, so I huffed my bag and camera as well.

I ended up going another 20 miles (same route as last time, the Portland Esplanade to the Spring Water Corridor) and I decided to hook up the computer just to keep a better track of our distance. Ended up topping out at 28.9 mph. My computer doesn't have average speed (which would be a nice function) but I'd guesstimate it to be around 15mph. I have to say I find it quite frustrating to leave the house thinking I have all the tools I'll need only to forget a few halfway into the ride. All in all, it was a good day (and happy hour tonight, so a good night as well)

^About a quarter into the ride my buddy and I stopped off at Oaks Bottom Park. Nice to sit by the water and breathe the fresh air.

^Top speed of 28.9 mph. I wonder just how accurate this wireless setup is, because my previous fastest on the road bike was 27 mph...

^The bullhorns are a bit uncomfortable on the wrists after awhile, but it also doesn't help to carry around the water bottle + DSLR

vw addict 07-10-11 05:00 PM

Today I am actually planning a ride for tomorrow, but I'm sure something will happen and keep me off the pedals, again. Thinking positive for now.

yummygooey 07-10-11 06:23 PM

Today I rode 22 miles round trip. 16.1mph on the way out, 14.4mph on the way back. Idk why the way back was so much harder... probably because it got really hot and really windy in the afternoon.

Awesome. My girlfriend (so proud of her) and I did our first STP yesterday too, our first century and double century (and I'm feeling the hurt). Had 12.5 hours of rolling time.

For the STP my computer said max speed of 59.1 mph...that's my story and I'm sticking with it! Actual was probably 38-40.

I'm going to have to say, pics or it didn't happen :-P... I'm glad I caught a photo this time... on the last ride I swear the computer reset it self after 10 miles...

My fence is erect and firm, and I am now over this stupid joke.

I went to the co-op to attend my first members meeting; and I had a talk with the general manager to end our little conflict. Now I'm revisiting some old art pieces to try to get back with it.
