Today I spent Christmas with my Family in Spokane. We hadn't all been together since July so we decided we'd skip the presents and just have family time. I couldn't be happier :) Takes a lot of the stress out of what should be a relaxing time.

I gotta get another one of those. I returned mine to Amazon instead of warranty but it was great
|
Rode down to an estuary to do some bird watching. Thought it'd be pretty quiet going down the bike path on the way there as it was pretty early, but I was dodging entire families on shiny new beach cruisers the whole way there. :p I was really surprised I didn't see more people on new fixed gears, though. Then again, FG bikes don't seem all that popular in this city as I rarely see anyone else riding them. Anyway, got a picture of a Black Phoebe, which up to this point has eluded me as these birds just never stay still: http://i.minus.com/jbmhuf1JiaJyq2.jpg

found out, as i'm sitting in the airport, that I could have stayed another night at home for christmas (which would have added the grand total of days home to 4). heres to hoping the flight gets cancelled and I go home.
Les miserable was pretty neat too |
Today my wheelset from RG finally came after getting lost in the mail. They went out the 10th, and I got them today. Still not bad, haha.
Holy ****, these things are light. As it sits in the picture, frame, uncut fork, headset, saddle, post, stem, bars, and bottle cages, so just missing groupset and rubber, it is sitting at a remarkably light 4.15kg. 2013 BB30 Force weighs sub 2kg, and my rubber should weigh ~510g, which should put the build under 15 pounds. Pretty hot for metal. http://i.imgur.com/YyTwn.jpg |
Are you gonna trade this for a MBP you can't sell too?

today i saw some top secret inner workings at my job/school, and found out that we have a supercomputer, and they showed me around
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=290380 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=290381 the green ones have about 2+ petabytes of storage, and the whole cluster has something like 10k cores of processing and around 5 petabytes of storage, not counting the 2.5 petabytes of tape storage in another building 6gbps fiber connection too, pretty sw8. was some pretty cool star trek **** |
personal low today, but in a good way. 7deg F for the morning commute.....
|
I went out and walked around NYC. Visiting from Portland.
I also came home and pondered when I was going to buy my first fixie. Been lurking this forum looking for the right bike for me :p |

Today I went for a super-short, but very confidence-inspiring test run on my new Nokian Mount & Grounds. I've been sick with some kind of respiratory crap for so long, it was great to get out and ride.
Other details: lots of rutted ice, 18 F at the time of the ride, 61 gear-inches. |
Today I overhauled and polished these. They're getting laced to VO Raids with Sapim Race spokes. 36h.

Getting my redneck on tonight:
http://i.imgur.com/Jp8Tcl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/HqNkGl.jpg Probably about 6" so far, expecting up to another foot. Gotta figure out how to get a ride in there somehow. |

I rode a 2013 Sputnik last Friday. Not sure what kind of rider they are targeting with that thing.
