Now is probably not the best time to mention that I've been wearing shorts and a tshirt on my commute every day so far this week

I don't give a hoot, I enjoy riding in crappy conditions.;)

Me too, I even bought a bunch of new winter gear a few weeks ago in anticipation; haven't had to use any of it yet other than the headlight. Soon though, I'm sure, but this SF Indian Summer is sure nice.

Dannihilator 11-07-12 07:09 PM

Actually am currently reading one of the bikesnob books.

Same here, did 24 miles in the storm. Getting pretty bad around here, almost stopped a few times because of the wind shoving snow in my face.

Dannihilator 11-07-12 07:21 PM

Been nearly a non event here, just a very light dusting and I'm like a 50 minute drive down I-78 from NYC. Raining right now.

hailandkill 11-07-12 07:29 PM

3+ inches here with strong winds and power outages and my friggen lights are flickering as I type this.. Hope I don't lose power again.

But it can always be worse.. A few coworkers lost their house, cars, and all their belongings in Sandy.

JohnDThompson and mconlonx, thanks for being poll workers! You make me feel a lot better after all the "there's no difference between the candidates" talk around here. :)

Uh... you can love the game and hate the players, too...

Definitely could be worse, every day I am able to watch tv or get online I see more and more of what Sandy did to the region, hope to never see such a thing again and hope that all get through this.

Best of luck, hope you don't lose power.

Sounds about like my day: 6:15AM to 10PM. Rode my trusty 3-speed with Dynohub lighting since it was dark both ways. Rained all day too, with temps in the 30s. At 57 I was by far the youngest poll worker there, and they thought I was nuts for riding my bike.

At 17, I was the youngest at my polling place haha. I only worked half a day though.

Today I went to the $0.99 store for house supplies (sponges, soap, paper towels etc.) and left with bags of junk food. Damn the holidays

The latest election has got me thinking.. I really hate politics.

This^ bringing up such topics really brings out the uglier sides of people especially if you support the opposite of what/ who they idealize.

first year bike commuting in the cold (19F this morning), cannot believe the carb cravings. want to eat everything.

Jared. 11-07-12 09:55 PM

Rode down to the bike co-op and got hit by a car on the way. Tossed me off the bike but no injuries or damage.

Learned all about cottered cranks. They are a pain.

First time riding around in 0 degree weather (it's Celsius, I'm cheating.)

Now I'm eating some vegetable curry, it's fantastic.

Muffin Man 11-07-12 10:12 PM

Glad to hear you're ok

Bought a new snow shovel, installed blinds in my new room so that I don't give the neighbours a free show.

:)

very nice.

Swapped stems. Thomson has very short stack height, so figured I'd need spacers. Couldn't find spacers. Steerer shim is pretty tall so it actually worked as a "spacer" for preloading.

(just temporary. I'm going to get that extra spacer)

calv 11-07-12 11:36 PM

How do you like that saddle?

jdgesus 11-08-12 12:46 AM

the under side says "polo"

Today, I used a fit calculator and found out that I'm supposed to be riding a 53cm frame....probably explains why the 56cm always felt too large.

hamfoh 11-08-12 01:08 AM

and the BK 56 takes no prisoners

btw saw your frame on CL while I was browsing for a used BK for myself :p
