It was mailed by his teacher, with the school as the return address, but still.

I'm thinking of polishing a few parts myself. I have a few cranks that I dont intend on ever selling and then I have a whole Dura Ace AX group I want to sell and the crank is a bit scruffed up. I probably shouldnt touch the DA parts

Today I talked to my dad on the phone for the second time in my life, it was hella awkward. Found out my grandma on his side is Native American so that's pretty cool I guess.

Don't worry, that's because they think you're a perv and don't want you to know where the kid lives

I never talked to my dad until I was 28 years old... was hard not to as I moved within two blocks of his house and we had many of the same friends.

He was really a decent guy and we had just started to get to know each other when he passed away from a heart attack... he had been busy getting his cabin ready to celebrate what would have been our first father's day together.

This brought me to tears. Heartwarming, man. Seriously.

I'm scared of this happening. My adoptive father and I don't get along at all, and I've never met my biological father. I know who he is, and i have his address, but I'm scared. What if he doesn't know about me? What if he does and wants nothing to do with me? I'm glad that you got to meet him, and that he was a good guy. Sorry about your loss .

I just ordered some new plugs. Going up again. 3/4" -> 7/8" for now, 1" in a few months. After that, no more.

Went to work, don't know why but I feel trashed and almost want to fall asleep in the back office of the store. Just gotta hold out a little longer and I can pedal home and crash. Wish I could screw around on my bike outside, no customers at this hour.

today i figured out why i passed out and hit the deck last night.

dehydrated. got back from a long snow ride requiring more effort than normal and only drank my normal amount of water.

total amateur hour. haven't done that since cutting weight for judo in high school. so dumb.

I just got kicked out of Target for trackstanding (with both hands. I didn't want to break the bike) and skidding one of their $129 fixed gears in the store. I kinda want one just to beat the hell out of it. So heavy.

True, there's a tub.

IthaDan, that is fantastic. I did not get any caulk in my mouth, although I agree that it does smell. My caulk is white.

My parents divorced when I was very young and I have very few childhood memories of my father, my grandfather was a very honorable man and took the place of his son in my life and I promised him that I would go and see my father, who was a decent guy in most respects.

You should take that step... I figure that if I had not done this I would carry that regret for the rest of my life and would know I failed my grandfather.

For the short time we had together, my father and I got along really well and his wife and our common friends said they had never seen him so happy... he carried this great burden of guilt for nearly 30 years and was actually looking at contacting my older sister and younger brother who were not as amenable to seeing or talking to him but think it would have been very healthy.

So awesome. I bet the feeling you got from this was worth so much more than the cost of the bike.

Hope his parents get a ******* clue and don't sell this one...

My mother dropped me off on my grandmother's doorstep while my father was in Vietnam. I was 2-3 then and I remember her being in and out of my life until I was five and my father remarried the beast. I'm 39 now and haven't said a word to her in any manner since the last court-ordered visitation on my fifth birthday. I can't say that I'm as honorable as you are Sixty Fiver, because honestly, I'd be at a loss for words as to what to say to her now.

Dan, that's pretty charitable of you. My oldest boy sold his BMX to a friend who was in need of a bike when he got his first real mountain bike, I'm sure he can relate to the feeling.

Not for everyone, but I'm happy with it.

Today I met a new cycling friend at the Rapha club. Then we did this.

Great day on the bike.
