is the zr1 the really badass one thats like $175k?

in related news: i saw a mercedez suv flipped over in an intersection of a 30mph road last week on my ride, how do you **** that up?

The base price on a ZR1 is $112,600. I don't know what kind of perks this one had. But yeah, it's their highest end corvette.

He estimates a couple hundred hours of work to get it looking new.

cruiserhead 11-28-12 02:07 PM

ZR1 is worth it for the drivetrain alone.
I would just pull it all and drop it into something else. Good score if the motor/tranny is solid.

Mumonkan 11-28-12 03:49 PM

screw that noise. its an incredible vehicle but..not for me.

i remember watching home improvement and seeing him build his hot rods and being like jesus, how do you not kill yourself?

but i can totally understand why someone would like it, i just dont have the patience

Nagrom_ 11-28-12 03:50 PM

If you take the engine out of a corvette, it ain't a corvette anymore, and it's now hard to sell

Anyone remember the Chevrolet SSR? Exactly.

Today I finally caved and put a bell on the 930, but rigged it so that it will operate via brake lever.

Sometimes I think about doing that with my spare lever.

What I really want is for it to turn my back blinkie on and off. That would rule eternity.

GENESTARWIND 11-28-12 08:58 PM

rode a good 35 miles or so with half of that being at a steady incline and i felt like i could have done another 15 to 20. woooooo

Today I started feeling a horrible clunk in the cranks, bottom bracket cups probably loose. NBD, thread on the crank puller, wait WTF... threads are half stripped? I haven't touched the cranks yet; this is on a "new" bike I got online. It's a POS, but still... ugh... now how to get these MFers off...

Find a shop that has a crank fork-wedge
http://wheelandsprocket.com/images/l...odl/TL4437.jpg

find a large gear puller that will fit around the crank

or carefully ride around on quiet streets without the crank bolt until the arm falls off. This is a last resort

Today at the daycare this kid that's usually well behaved threw a crayon and it hit me in the eye. I'm normally a calm person but I was seriously about to rage. He didn't even apologize. Left him in the time out corner to cry while the other kids got pizza and juice. Looks like I got the last laugh.

today two of my 40-something female coworkers took the train to NYC to see Justin Bieber at Madison Square Garden. pretty sure one of them has abduction on her mind, because she keeps Bieber patterned duct tape in her desk. *shudder*

heavy equipment tore up part of the trail i commute on and, while it's frozen in the mornings, it's a 4" deep mud bog in the afternoon. daily bike wipedown.....

Used: a bell (duh)
Brake Cable
BMX brake cable anchor(knarp)
Longer piece of housing.

Drill hole in bell
Routed the cable. Tried to go direct, wouldn't provide enough pull with the lever, had to wrap around to get the appropriate pull. Set tension, and applied the brake anchor.

Notes: Had to remove the bar tape from the right side, was lucky enough to be able to reuse the tape and the routing on top is good enough since I don't really ride on top of the bars, always either on the hoods or in the drops.

Leukybear 11-28-12 09:59 PM

Looks good; I thought you rigged up something like adriano did. :thumb:

It was. We had one guy's girlfriend as DD who came and picked us up from the bar. She just made a wonky turn at an intersection, so the cop stopped her. Main thing was because he watched her pull out of the bar lot.

And update on the number I scored, been texting this girl all day, and so far I think it could go somewhere. Sweeeeet.

weird day. first off, remind me to never buy a french bike again. It took around 3 hours for me to shim and set up my seatpost since the only tools I had with me were from a freaking boyscout pack from the RA's office and two arizona ice t cans. Once I finished shimming the post and taping my bars I took it out for a spin and proceeded to narrowly escape being hit. this idiot was turning left and cut the corner, forcing me to jump the curb going about 17mph and make my way off on a sidewalk. I still dont know how he didnt clip my backwheel, and I dont know how he didnt see me, today has not been my day. luckily Im safe, i guess i should be more on the watch more, but I had lights and it was a well lit intersection, i dunno

NateRod 11-28-12 10:41 PM

Put on those retrogression laminated double straps, swapped out the colorful parts for black ones, and made the GTB look all black and boring... But felt good as hell during my ride. Those straps get an A+.

Figured I'd try and get in on that half billion powerball jackpot, so made a pit stop at a local gas station to buy a couple tickets. People were going insane over that. Station was packed. Long ass line. I just walked straight to the self-serve machine, popped in a couple bucks for quickplay then walked out. Overheard some crazy amounts of money being thrown at the cashier though.

i didn't win **** btw. Well at least I didn't drop $50 on it.

Thank you for being responsible.

Instead of spending money on lottery, I bought noisemakers for heckling 4b's at the state cx championship this weekend. Solid investment.

I don't **** around with that. Even when really drunk. If theres no DD, I'll walk my ass home. Last time I did that was close to 5 miles, and it was below 40 degrees. No drunk drivers.

Much better investment than lotto tickets.

Spent the day overhauling my shop so that I'd have space for the new welding table and toolbox I am picking up tomorrow... this area used to be where I parked bikes.

Mumonkan 11-29-12 12:39 AM

ive never actually ridden while drunk, kinda wanna try it now

today i realized that i dont like the emaciated look of the stock fork on the canondale track. there i said it.
