Will do along with surprise if all goes to plan and I finish tomorrow.

Cool.

calv 04-26-11 08:46 PM

This is what happens when you're pissed off from bombing a midterm, drunk, have no tools, and really REALLY want to finish this last part to start building your bike:

Keep going. It always feels like there's no way you're ever going to get that thing in there but it eventually will. Wait...what did you use?

calv 04-26-11 09:02 PM

the problem is that it went in crooked, so i'm using this screw driver to tap the side that's higher to try and straighten it out. Using the threaded bolt to pound the screwdriver, lol.

Scrodzilla 04-26-11 09:09 PM

Dude...you won't do it without a hammer. Time for a trip to the lbs!

calv 04-26-11 09:23 PM

Seriously. I want to raaaage. Haha. I got it in lower, but it's crooked so when I tighten it down the fork can't turn smoothly.

calv 04-26-11 09:37 PM

Doh, today I installed the ball bearings upside down on the top headset cup, so that's what was causing the rough turnage on the fork. I flipped it over and reinstalled it, tightened it down, and there's like 1mm worth of play on the fork since the star nut is not straight, there's a tiny gap on one side of the top cap.

Ridable? I'm talking like a SLIGHT movement going back and forth on the fork, you can't really even see the distance it moves, only feel.

Pictures? Maybe?

Tarck is rough. Our trolliest trolls are no match for their least trolliest trolls. I prefer to stay at BFSSFG with my daily "get the Kilo" comment. Their kit is pretty cool, though... and if BFSSFG were to make a kit it would have to be equally as cool.

@ Calv - a crappy LBS will charge you <$10 for a star nut and installation; a cool one will charge you less. Or just buy the right tool... Nashbar has a cheap one.

"Dude! I could tell that was a fixed gear bike as soon as I saw it!"
"O ya? How could you tell?"
"It's just the fluid motion of the feet, brah. Us cyclists can just tell."
"All right..."
::gets on a moped and rides off::

did I get trolled?

I don't think trolled is the right word, that does sound goofy however. But yeah, there is a kinda cadence/rhythm that develop with riding fixed, but the motion can also be developed by riding a non-fixed bike.

Also, either go to sleep or good morning to you!

do you want to start the thread and throw up the template?

yummygooey 04-27-11 08:22 AM

I'm not creative enough :(

It would be sweet, though. I need some kit for this summer so I can get my cool on.

adriano 04-27-11 08:33 AM

somebody with the template, post it up!

Leukybear 04-27-11 04:28 PM

Finished assembling the rear wheel of my beater wheelset was getting ready to do the finishing stuff when it came to my attention that I utterly forgot something for work AND the fact that I used my only spare DA lockring for my reynolds sdvc66 wheelset.... hopefully the included formula one won't let me down for a couple of days before the DA arrives.

vw addict 04-27-11 04:39 PM

Got my package from Retrogression, so I should really concentrate on getting the Pake built. Finally....
