Today I'm gearing up for a ****show weekend. My birthday tomorrow, buddy's birthday on Saturday, Renaissance Fair on Sunday. If I don't make it back alive, bury my bikes with me.

Today I read a neat article on Wired about Google's bike culture, with a nice plug for the SF2G crew. Jandro must be proud: http://www.wired.com/wiredenterprise...4/google-bikes

i've had on and off knee pain since i started upping my weekly mileage, but now it hasn't gone away for a week. it's mostly a dull pain in my left meniscus. i just noticed some pain in the IT band just above the knee... so i'm hoping it's just an IT band thing and not a torn meniscus.

also some pain in the right knee at the top of the tibia bony knob thing on the inside of the leg (but i think this is just cuz i raised my saddle too much yesterday trying to fix some fit).

Sounds like you need a fitment.

Interesting, I'd like to try that conference bike.

Mumonkan 04-25-13 03:25 PM

today i rode home from work and it was great, 65, no wind

then about a mile from my house some little ****ing prick tweens darted into the street without looking, one kid on foot chasing another kid on a razor scooter.

crashed right into the kid on foot cuz he basically jumped directly in front of my bike, i fell over and thankfully didnt get my skull crushed by a car

kids all like "ow my leg!" mother****er pay attention! if i was a car youd be chopmeat on the front page on tomorrows newspaper right now

****ing kids.

Kind of looking forward to that.

Today, I read a cool article on Wired about Google's bike culture, which was a very good read. Also I bummed around and watched some dumb movies and ate a lot. Did you know you can fry a sandwich in mustard? I always use mayo, but was out today. Mustard is a tasty replacement.

4 realz tho.

/edit: forgot that on my way home i saw a man, mustve been at least 60, cranking along on a brakeless blue pake f75 with bullhorns wearing leggings and a psychedelic shirt, looked happy as could be

striknein 04-25-13 04:01 PM

Must have been Dannihilator.
today I have a bruise on my shin from trying to straighten a bent rim. DIDN'T WORK.

cc700 04-25-13 04:15 PM

had an amazing cupcake a la jdgesus' bake and shake shop.

then i got third overall on a strava segment out of 988 users.

cc700 04-25-13 04:20 PM

Chasing KOM's all day. Not too many people ride around here, so I don't have a lot of competition on certain segments. Last summer I went out of my way to ride a segment, and going against 15 mph wind after an 8 hour shift, I ended up getting fourth. Hah.

cc700 04-25-13 04:29 PM

haaha that's rad. it's nice when you're not even trying.

today i was trying. hard. all day.

yea, right?

what happens when you get fit, and then change your saddle? or your bars?

anyways

went to the doc and she thinks i have IT band syndrome and patellar tendonitis. she suggested taking some aleve, icing, and stretching while reducing mileage. she gave me a referral for a bike fit, and also one for physical therapy if the first stuff doesn't work.

it's also 68 deg and sunny today in seattle so FUUUUUUUUUUUU.

So when you make a grilled cheese you use butter right? Try mayo. After youve done that, try an actual sandwich, say ham and cheese, in mayo. Then try the same sandwich in mustard.

The mayo cooks off and acts like butter basically. But the mustard doesnt. It seems to carmalize, creating a very nice mustard glaze type thing on the bread. Very good.

This is one of the things I've learned while studying in Italy on a budget. Another is that I miss my bike :(

Most fitments give you measurement numbers, so when you change components you can also adjust the fit. How often do you change your saddle and bars? It's usually a one time thing for me.

Just take it easy. I had some IT Band problems as well. Don't force the riding, it'll just make **** worse. Stretching is huge, and get yourself one of those high density foam rollers.
