Today I did my first century. I'm tired.

cc700 04-18-13 06:19 PM

hairnet 04-18-13 06:19 PM

Good news: new laptop
Bad new: Windows 8

Dannihilator 04-18-13 07:06 PM

Today I put a new cog on the 930 and had a great 40 miles.

I got a windows8 laptop 2 weeks ago. I wanted to downgrade to 7, but after messing with it for awhile, it's not so bad. Still, if I had to use it daily, I'm not sure how I would feel.

You can pry my macbook pro from my cold dead hands.

No, man, it was a 100mi not a 1000. I kid, it was tough, but I'll do it again.

Today I gave samsung my monies for a s4. Yup, my first android phone.

Funny, I would expect most jeers from people who have **** machines facing the reality of having to upgrade hardware.
I actually love windows 8. You can't beat my 10 second cold boot ups w/ SSD and 14 without.

hairnet 04-18-13 07:45 PM

I wish this had a SSD. I guess Windows 8 is alright but I'm not into this "app" frenzy. I have to find out how to lock out some of these touchpad commands because it is really getting in the way.

cc700 04-18-13 07:47 PM

i just installed an SSD on my three year old desktop. it's great but i don't think my startup is as fast as windows 7 can do. i didn't go into the bios at all so it's probably not well optimized.

Dannihilator 04-18-13 07:49 PM

As soon as I can figure out how to transfer pics from my camera to the nook(not likely going to happen), I'm ditching the computer.

Definitely. I think most people are just opposed to Windows 8 because its different, not because its any worse.

Give it a chance to settle in. I rather enjoy a good number of the new features. And I can't think of any I miss.

Other than shortcuts, the only "apps" I have on my metro is news tickers. We need a bikeforums Windows 8 app.

It depends on other hardware too. Try upgrading your RAM to at least 4gbs. I have a 6 year old gaming build with intel's first ever quad core chip running windows 8 like a champ.

striknein 04-18-13 08:28 PM

I don't know how I got along before ssd's. they're a real game-changer.

Nagrom_ 04-18-13 09:19 PM

I gave 8 a month before uninstalling it.

Very much glad I made a separate partition for it.

Mumonkan 04-18-13 09:47 PM

Wut is win doze?

Nagrom_ 04-18-13 09:49 PM

It's kinda like a mac, except you can right click, there isn't a command key, and people actually make software for it.

BURN.

seau grateau 04-18-13 10:09 PM

Hey-o! My laptop has a SSD and Win7 and it's hella dope/fire/money.

Today I turned on the news before leaving for class for the first time in forever. All I want to know is: what. The ****. is going on in this country?

thewilson 04-19-13 08:14 AM

I hear ya, I work in the city and got the call not to come in.

Mumonkan 04-19-13 10:29 AM

As i sit bored out of my mind in the laundromat, i ponder if its worth a 247% price increase for fluff&fold

The folding is really my least favorite part

opinions?

johnnytheboy 04-19-13 10:34 AM

spend the 247% difference on a maid once a week!

TL;DR: do it.

When the missus and I moved to an apartment without laundry, we made the decision to pay extra for same day dropoff service. That remains one of the most grown-up decisions i've made since i started buying non-baggy jeans. IMHO it's totally worth paying someone else to fold. It's like paying for those hours of your life per week you'll never get back.
(more time for playing bieks)
