Today I found someone's lost bowl on the ground on the way to Starbucks. LA is funny.

Today I decided that whey protein is no longer part of my diet.

Today I put in a fun ride in on the dmr.

greatest multi-tool of all time:

Today I went to a talk about coprolites. I sat there for an hour listening to a guy talk about fossilized ****, and how important it is to tracking the movement of people of different racial origins. And went and bought the new earpods for my phone since my right earbud decided to just stop working. My mic/remote still work fine, just the earbud itself. Good thing these new ones have a much nicer design/shape to them.

Unless you are doing some serious serious long distance touring there is no reason to have a spoke wrench on your mutli-tool. Nice ones are cheap, and its almost always an at home job.
Break a rear spoke while on a ride without a spoke wrench? Miles and miles of *whump...*whump...*whump...*whump... as your badly out of true wheel flops around. Break a rear spoke with a spoke wrench? Use it to adjust the tension on the surrounding spokes and ride home just like nothing happened. I've actually used the spoke wrench on the Crankbros M19 to do the above. Had to have the bike upside down in the parking lot of a BrandsMart but it worked. Even had a teammate use it during a race for the same reason. He was on a geared bike and couldn't open the rear caliper enough to keep the rim from rubbing. Two minutes with the spoke wrench and we were back in action. Why wouldn't you want to carry something so small, useful and lightweight? |
On my new fangled nexus 7.

today i had my first day of classes this semester, had every intention of dropping all but 1 class just to keep my financial aid but i dont actually hate them
received free clip on mtb fenders from coworker @ school, affixed rear fender to bike and established front just aint gonna work came home and took my jacket off, one of my new stone plugs came out of my ear and grazed the pedal on a bike in my room, now its chipped and sharp as ****. FFS. |

oh you can bet i'll be bragging my ass off once it's done, and the idea is to keep it reasonably priced because us off-the-bell-curve sized people often have to go spendy custom. of course you can always keep an eye on the tiny fix twitter, facebook, website, or tumblr. ;)

I prefer whole grain to whole protein. I have no real dietary secrets, I just listen to what my body needs.

sold my fixie :(
also inspected my mtb for the first time since i broke my arm on a dirt jump 6 weeks ago. bent saddle rail, bent seatpost clamp bolt, broken bell, and blew out the fork. |
I did Wolfpack last night for the first time in a couple years and on my fixed gear for the first time. It was windy as hell out there and get sketchy a few times. I was holding up fairly well until the last leg of the route. In the last 12 miles I crashed while we were following a curving road in a pace line. Not a corner but just enough so I had some lean and then a crack in the road grabs my tire(s) and I go down and slide at least 10 feet while the others try to not crash into me, one did hit my head with his leg. No real damage, just a little shaken. We get going after a few minutes and it looks like I can still keep up, but no, I lose it and slowly get left behind. I still rode/limped the remaining ten or so miles back to the start.
Now Im getting ready to ride to work with road rash and only a couple hours of sleep :-P |

I'm always paranoid about road cracks doing that. So many cracky roads out here, and it seems like every crack is 23mm wide.

I was going to do WPH last night too but decided not to, my knee still hurts from the 130mi ride on Saturday, didn't want to push it. Kinda glad I decided to take it easy.
Instead, I went and bought the sqrl a cute little white and silver Giant mountain bike from CL, got a killer deal on it. It wasn't running, but all easy fixes: replaced rear tube and pumped up flat but still good front one, adjusted FD limits and put the chain back on which had fallen off onto the BB shell and she didn't know how to put it back on, regreased and tightened a ridiculously loose and dry headset, setup brakes a bit better, cleaned it up real nice. Good as new. Surprised her with it when she got home last night, she loves it. Hopefully she'll actually start riding it enough to be able to go on some real rides with me soon. |
^ I did the SF WPH last night. It was the first time I had done it in about 3 months. I had been a regular up until I started working at TCB where scheduling/tired legs discouraged me from going.
