Today I fitted folding tyres to my Hillbrick. I now hate folding tyres.

go down a stupid steep descent, jdg in front, benjammin behind... i near the bottom of the hill and CANNOT STOP. any more force on the brakes and i woulda flipped so i start yelling "CANT STOP CANT STOP CANT STOP" while jdg is turning into my line. i hit his front wheel and flipped, all star tuck and roll, but then benjammin comes in from behind and runs over me. no one got seriously hurt, which is cool. the worst part was that after we banged the wheel on the ground a couple dozen times to get it rideable, we had to ride back up the hill because the descent was a dead end. LOL. GOOD DAY. my version: umami yells, "HEY IM UP HERE" i stop and turn and hear "CAT STOP CANT STOP" then gooey goes flying over my handlebars flips in the air and lands pretty smoothly and then ben runs him over LOL |

dan, i think you buy more bikes than i do parts
|
Ha, want one? If you're ever up here, let me know, I'll be happy to show you around.
Chances are. This was a rolling chassis I bought from a friend who'd picked it up at a local thrift shop for $40. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Needed something to do with all the parts I'd been accumulating for the last year. |
Today I put in a century.

Trappin' feral cats, all day errday. Caught 3 so far.

I have a few thrift stores, one that actually has some bikes. Nothing looks interesting while walking by, though maybe I should take a pic and see if anyone wants them? Oh...and today I...WORKED for 9 hours! |

oh my balls, great ride up some hills and felt real strong.
then watched skyfall again at the cheap movies. some other stuff happened too. |
Today my knee is hurting. Bah.
Hopefully it's better for track tomorrow. |
Today I finally caught up on some reading for uni, I smashed out 5 chapters of a book instead of venturing outside into the hot hot heat (just below 100 degrees Fahrenheit I think). Thought about going for a ride to sweat it out but my lower leg still hurts from last Monday. I'll be booking a physio appointment tomorrow to see why it's still so painful. I've also been getting messages from friends that are at a music festival all afternoon which is making me a little jealous.

I used for the first time (instead of a foam roller or lacrosse ball)
http://cdn.mos.bikeradar.com/images/...10d-399-75.jpg I found my new tool. |
Today (well yesterday) I rode a bike that actually moves when you pedal it, played soccer with my youngest on the driveway and had a family BBQ. I think spring might be on the way.
|
Today I am going to let myself vent here about how a friend of mine went and bought himself one of these. Now he wants to drop serious $$ on a fancy helmet and I'm like UGH why did you buy such a crappy bike? He keeps Facebook messaging me with questions about changing the gear ratio (Him: "The gearing's too steep; I want to get a new crankset" Me: "No, get a new cog, it'll be way cheaper") and stuff and it's really hard for me to bite my tongue about the bike he got. Why he didn't ask my advice for what bike to get in the first place, I have no idea.
But hey, I should stop being a bike snob and let him have his "fixie" fun, I guess. |
Great tool. Use it all the time after a long run. Great for recovery but it hurts like hell if you have leg hair and they get caught in the rollers...
Today I realized that running and biking use very different muscles (no ***** Sherlock). Rode 20 hilly miles single speed and my hams were shocked... rough 8 miles running this morning.

Finally stood my ground and decided to stop being Mr. Nice Guy when people keep freaking riding on the wrong side of the street. Some ******* decides hes going to ride on the wrong side of the road when there was someone on the right side of the road right in front of him. If you could've seen it, you'd think it was the stupidest thing in the world, when theres someone right next to you on the proper side of the road, i think it'd be best to follow what that guys doing to be safe and not go on the wrong side of the road.

I've been an ******* to bridge salmon before, often play chicken with them but I'm usually pretty nice and just say "wrong side, bro"
|
I dont even bother anymore, i just take the outside and keep a straight line, half the time they cant even figure out to go on the inside and try to go around me into traffic. Definitely the best idea.

Yesterday, I raced Rouge Roubaix. 104ish miles on some brutal roads, including about 20 miles of dirt/sand/gravel, all on road bikes. Climbs in the 17% range. 5700 feet of gain. I probably could've handled those climbs if they were paved, but on gravel, forget about it. I (and most of the field) walked several of the steeper ones. I also hit the deck 3 or 4 times when the front wheel got wonky in the gravel.
Anyway, I finished 39th out of 75 in the 4/5 race with a time around 5 hours 45 minutes. Just finishing feels like a hell of an accomplishment. Between all the categories, there were probably 35 DNFs. |
