I <3 my speedos. They're actually Arena but most folks would guess Speedo.

I'm currently trying to not spend all of my monies on winter gear from the Pearl Izumi webstore. Even with the bike shop employee discount, I could easily drop my entire check and still not have everything I need (want).

Life is too short to ride crappy bikes.

But for reals, I got super lucky on both the GT and TET.

SummerToday the temp. was 44C - that's 110F.
The plan was to was up early, take the bike to work on the car, go for a long ride before work, then home - my commute home includes a hill that's 3.5km long, averages over 6% and has a decent stretch at 10%+. Understand why I want that geared hub Scrod?

Anyways, the alarm went off and, after a long 'discussion', my Siamese cat convinced me that an extra hour in bed was a better move than riding around in that heat.

Next week, they're predicting temperatures over 40C (105F) every day, so it'll be interesting to see how many kms I do. First heat wave of the year ... and Feb is our hottest month.

I love summer, I just don't like climbing long steep hills in the heat. Still, with the Tour Down Under starting in a few weeks, you sort of feel sorry for the Europeans coming here to race ... almost

Bikes: All City Nature Boy

Two days ago, I spent all my money ordering parts for the road bike I'm building. This wasn't a problem because the frame wasn't supposed to be available until mid-January. Well, the frame is available today, I'm broke, and there is only one available. Booo.

bad news for anyone who liked Tiemeyer frames. He just told me this earlier this morning. Feels bad man, such a nice dude.

I will tell you that factoring in the long recession and the sweep of low price, outsourced carbon frames and components in the bicycle industry, I decided over the holidays to close the doors of Tiemeyer Cycles at the end of February. Regrettably, there is little room for a custom builder, such as myself, in this business anymore.
however...
I do have a full selection of stock aero Signature frames including each size finished in gloss black with white and silver graphics that I am offering now for $1135 - that's $200 off the list price .

His frames have never really been my style, but from everything I've read he sounds like a great guy to work with. Feels bad indeed, man.
