Went and bought that highlighter yellow convertible jacket. Really not too bad for only $50. I'm also going to go play some soccer in a few hours and break in my new indoor shoes before our games start up. And I got out of both of my classes a half hour early today. Hooray syllabus week.
Today I almost knocked someone out who was jaywalking into the bike lane. He was walking through a line of stopped cars, not paying attention, so I decided to just swing behind him as he got into the bike lane, when he suddenly stopped and turned about face. My shoulder clocked him in the jaw and he cursed a bit. Then I nearly got doored a little farther down the road. Awesome.

Did 35 miles today. About 20 miles in, I decided to climb a decorative marble ramp near a monument. Rear wheel slid out under the pressure and I landed with all of my body weight on my nutsack. In related news, I pissed blood today and have a swollen testicle.
Oh, man. That Hot Cheetos video is ridiculous. Lately, it seems a lot of popular rap is devolving to a simpler, slower style lately. I wonder what it will sound like in another 5 or 10 years...

Oh?
I also had a clutz moment today. I kind of knocked my computer in the drainage system when fixing a front flat this morning.

Needless to say, had to get a new computer...

this is extremely lame by the standards of this forum, but i rode 7.88 at a 15.8 pace on a 44x17 tonight (that works out to a lot of >80 rpm except when i was phoning it in because my shorts hurt or the hill that killed my speed down to 12 mph) and i'm happy. finally doing longer (for me) rides at the same pace i can do my little jaunts around town.
i'm wondering how you guys who rip off 30, 50 miles a day fit it into your timetable? i mean, you're fast, i get that, but that's a lotta damn time on a bike (spoken as a dad who spends a lot of time at home).

From time comes experience, from experience comes endurance, from endurance comes distance. Route planning also helps.
If you are strong and can hold a 20mph average speed, 50 miles is two and a half hours, but I wouldn't worry so much about average speed unless you are training to race. I go by quality of ride over avg speed. Granted my best avg speed last year on a metric was 17 mph, going to try for a 20mph avg metric this spring.

It really sucks to be busy all the time and not be able to ride. In the past six months I went from single with school, and no job and a ton of free time to guy with a gf, school, buttload of hw, with stressful and tiring part time job. By the time I get home it's dark, freezing, and/or raining plus i'm pooped. Only time to put on miles is the weekends.

today i took the train to chicago to ride with some buddies. that was fun. i wish i could have stayed longer though, cuz it was only a 28 mile day.
as far as fitting riding into my day, it gets tough sometimes. i only went on a handful of real rides (non-commute) this fall semester because i was so busy with school work. over the summer i had a job with an early shift (7-3:30), so i was able to get out on the bike by 4:30-5pm most days of the week, and ride until it got dark at 9-10pm. it definitely didn't leave much time for anything else, though.

I don't think I'm gonna have time for another metric until Febuary between winter percussion, drum corps, and school. Kinda sad seeing as I already have two down over the winter break.

one nice thing about night rides (at least for me): you feel like you're f'n FLYING even when you are not. put the headlight on slow-strobe for added fun... until you run over a sizeable fallen tree branch (happened) or a dead possum (actually ALMOST happened thursday).

night riding in central Illinois corn fields is terrifying, even with proper lighting

Bought my first DSLR. Canon T4i and a couple lenses. 50mm F1.4, 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II and the 18-55mm kit lense it came with.
