Manual is the way to go. I learned to drive with one, and have never owner an auto.

The best part about driving stick is that most people can't, there for no one ever asks to drive your car.

yummygooey 01-18-13 08:10 PM

i'm excited that i'll be able to potentially drive a fun car... probably some turbo'd 4 banger. might as well enjoy driving if i'm gonna be doing 50 miles a day to work, right? i'm not sure if i'll be taking the truck to seattle with me or if i'll just get a new car when i get there.

and no, i don't enjoy getting up at 4:30am to ride a bike to work so i can sit down at my desk by 7.

An Sti wagon would be a nice turbo'd 4 banger.

Ever since selling my car I've been lusting over getting a wagon.

Just use that truck, if it can make the drive out there. Most utilized vehicle I ever had was a compact pickup.

Goddamnit. I attempted to swap over my Sram stuff onto my CAAD, and apparently Sram doesn't like to play with old derailleur cables.

Nagrom_ 01-18-13 11:42 PM

Did some crazy ass trade with Muff, cant remember.

Today I was in a rush to make dinner cause I was so damn hungry.

I realize now that I grabbed the Cayenne instead of the Paprika.

jimmytango 01-19-13 12:38 AM

Dude, the other day I grabbed cinnamon instead of cayenne.

I've done that so often, now I just automatically substitute cayenne when a recipe calls for paprika.

I drive a Toyota LUV from the 70s and it rules. It gets around 60 MPG.

Scrodzilla 01-19-13 08:26 AM

Those things are awesome. My dad had one that he would let me steer while sitting on his lap when I was a young kid.

edit: his was a '75 Chevy Luv, which was probably pretty close to the same thing. I remember it being tiny compared to my uncle's '62 Chevy pickup.

Get a truck and you find you have way more friends than you thought. Add a chainsaw and you are everyone's best buddy.

I bought a 89 Toyota Std Bed Dlx pickup new, drove it 15 years until it had 220k mi on the odo. Motor and drivetrain were still going strong, but the rest of the truck totally rusted out around it all. Sat for two years in the yard, and then a friend came by to check it out. New gas, new battery, started right up. He poached the drivetrain and we junked the rest.

Today it is dead cold winter in S. NH and there is not one customer in the bikeshop...

yummygooey 01-19-13 11:10 AM

my truck's only got ~150k miles on it. it sits outside all the time so there is a lot of rust on the body panels. seems to run great except when it hits the 30-40mph range sometimes the car reaches some odd frequency that feels like a jackhammer inside my head. it goes away once you get past that range of speeds tho.

my car does the same thing around 70 mph, and 80 mph, i feel like it has to do with the wheel balance though

You are correct.

Street rider 01-19-13 11:30 AM

A friend used to have a car that would shake like that at certain speeds. They thought tire balance, tried to fix it that way, didn't work. It ended up being something wrong with her timing belt.

Mumonkan 01-19-13 11:45 AM

i do also need a belt, but who wants to spend money on cars? i havent been able to opoen my drivers side door from the outside in almost a year...**** costs too much damn money

Do you have to get in the car racecar style then?
