Bikes: BMX, fixed gear

Last night I hung out with a few friends and had a few beers, got our friend who just turned 21 pretty drunk. Was hilarious.

Big news is that I'm going to see Flogging Molly on Friday! They're playing the Filmore in Detroit, and some friends were already going, and since they know how big a fan I am of them, they told me they had an open seat in their car. So unbelievably stoked. I've waited years for this.

Going to be cold and windy as all go out tomorrow, I think I'm going to suffer tomorrow and make it a 500 mile month.

Blues had ups and downs. But for a young team to come back like that is nice.

The Jets however still have lots of room to grow.

Caught the last half of the game thanks to the interwebs. Those last 2 minutes were heart attack territory. This makes 2 Blackhawks games and 2 Sabres games I've watched in the last 3 days. Pretty pleased about that.

Today I rode with Muffin Man and some other sw8 fixay homies.

We did a metric century.

Today I was supposed to do an imperial (metric plus 15 each way from SJ to Mtn View) century with Muff, but when I woke up my stomach was feeling like ****. I think I caught some bug Friday night.

So instead, today I overhauled the sqrl's dad's Cervelo S2. Probably 5k with literally no maintenance. The most disgusting chain I've ever seen in my life. The frame itself was just caked with crap. Broke it down to the frame, and cleaned and re-lubed everything that moves, all the pivot points on derailleurs and brakes, trued the wheels, redid the housing cabling, literally everything. I even had enough scrap Yokozuna to use on his brakes, which was pretty cool.

Re-cabling an S2 is a nightmare.

Yeah. So stupid. The cables enter on the top of the top tube, behind the steerer tube, and are guided into the down tube, but that's it. You have to fish them out of the downtube through a hole in the BB shell.

Internal housing for the loss.

Very dumb. The second cable is even harder, cause the first cable obstructs the hole after you get it through.

you would think that they would have some sort of conduit for the cable to go through if theyre gonna go through all that trouble of having internal housing in the first place. especially with the cost of that bike

tomorrow i plan to ride to work in this subfreezing windtunnel that is the northeast and hopefully not get precipitated on

Most do. The S2 only has it a couple inches of guiding from the opening, until it can make an unobstructed line to the BB shell. They removed the guides to cut weight I assume.

It's a "feature."
