Bikes: Click on the #YOLO

Turned stepped washers for a DIY headset press. Needed a lathe project at work, so I doubled up.

How does this even happen? Was your chain tension really that loose?

Dude, why so early? Wish it was later. How long are you in town for?

Think I'm getting a car next week.

That's pretty awesome. More balls than I have.

You heading back right after, or spending the day in the bay?

Heading back that day. There's no telling how long we will stay, that depends on when our driver wants to go.

Today I gave my friend a basic bike fit on his road bike. KOPS, 145 degrees at full extension - now he just needs a shorter stem; he's too stretched out for a non-racer and has to spend too much time on the tops to stay comfortable. Man, he's been riding for 10 years on a $3000 road bike and no one ever recommended that he get fitted. His saddle was too low and was about 4 cm too far back. His stem was at least 20mm too long, too. Then I tuned up his rear derailleur. Runs nice now. In exchange, he trued my wheels. It's funny; he doesn't know anything about derailleur maintenance but knows how to true wheels. Then we went on a midnight bike ride for 1.5 hours.

Today I ate breakfast outside on my back porch for the first time this year. Eggs, grilled chorizo and charred habanero peppers stuffed with green onions and Asadero cheese washed down with a cold ginger beer.

Now it's time to go to the shop and kick ass.

God, the weather is amazing. I think this is why I have to live places with seasons - so I can appreciate the beauty of it with each change. I hated living in Texas, I hated that I grew to despise the sun and wanted to knock it out of the sky, I hated warm wet winters and blazing hot summers.

Yesterday's commute was amazing. Good Friday made for empty streets in the morning, and the weather yesterday afternoon... perfect riding weather.

Today I have a sore throat and sniffles and think I'm getting sick, but I'm going to power through. Trying to get the house listed in the next week... hahahaha. Gotta do a lot of stuff around the house and have people over tonight to watch Doctor Who.

I got clever last night...I have one of those claw things that I use in my large fish tank to move things around. I took that and went to where I lost the bottle...crawled in a bit enough to reach the bottle and got it! Luckily living in AZ means there's not much junk in the sewer opening. It didn't even look that dirty, just a scuff or two. I'm still soaking it just in case, but I got it!!! Go me!

Forgot how much I love bullhorns/pursuits when climbing, makes life so easy.

Seattle downtown destroys Portland in fun hills.
