don't worry this year is honestly a really tough year for uc's it seems. i barely applied to any of em, including UCLA, but i got rejected by UCLA and might have to end up going to UCSC. i didn't start being a tryhard till junior and senior year when i realized that i was kinda screwed when it came to getting into a good school. i am probably the laziest and most procrastinating person you will ever meet. the only way i was able to pull off a 4.1 overall gpa was because i'd finally manage to get myself to do my homework at 11pm or midnight. all i really have going for me is the fact i've done track and xc for 3 years, above 4.0 gpa and a minority/first person to go to a uni in my family. other than that i really don't stack up compared to the average tryhard at my school who has roughly a 4.3 gpa and over 2000 on the SAT compared to my high 1700

Many moons ago, when dinosaurs roamed the earth, which was around the time I went to highschool. I busted my rear off the first 3 years, got good grades and at the end of the year was only 10 credits from graduating. So, Senior year the 1st half I had a busy schedule and got accepted to my 1st choice(knew before the end of the 1st half of the year.) Second half of the year, had all of 3 classes a day and had alot of down time.

Let me put it this way, I'm only in college cause of SAT scores.

Mother ****ing boxing. lulz

Community College helped some. As long as I followed the program that my CC had I had a pretty good chance at being admitted if my GPA was high enough.

My SAT was scheduled for 2 weeks after I had gotten accepted to my 1st choice, which did not require an SAT score.

I have like a 3.5 weighted GPA, 31 ACT, 1910 SAT, so I'm pretty low on the totem pole at my school.

Today I got a free pro bike fitting. It was an interesting 4 hours because I was stubborn and didn't just blindly accept all of the recommendations. It was still good and enjoyable. Still ended up spending $180 after for a Romin saddle, Specialized shoe inserts, and a stem.

I'm still being stubborn because I think modern saddles are ugly.

Today I received some 7800 bits in the mail for my a new geared commuter build. While cleaning up the hollowtech spindle with a paper towel I noticed there was a familiar looking florescent yellow green tinged grease. Dura Ace l00b.

Sure your GPA is a tad low but the rest looks good. Surely there would've been a UC that wanted you....
Which UC's did you apply to?

You guys applying as in-state or out of state? That actually makes a big difference because they probably have quotas to meet. So it's actually more competitive if you're in CA and want to go to a CA school, because so many people want to go to UCLA, USC, Stanford, Berkeley, etc. from out of state.

I wouldn't do the straight from HS to college route. I didn't take my SAT's either and it don't mean jack. If you don't get accepted, ef em and go to a CC and transfer. Save a lot of money and it will get you to the same place, just a different way.

I got rejected from UC Davis, Santa Cruz, and probably Irvine. I'm still waiting for their decision. I also got rejected from Cal Poly SLO. At this point, I'm going to be going to a small private school in Oregon that I got into. Pretty nice place, a tad small, but I don't think it will be too bad.

I'd highly recommend you go to a CC and find a program to transfer to your selected college. You'll save a lot of money and have a little more free time to do what you want while you breeze through some generic IGETC courses.

Today my co worker told me he got a deal on a 50cm Lemond frame + fork for $100 and is going to take his 3 speed internal hub (windsor deluxe he bought from BD) and transfer it onto the lemond frame.

installed cascadia fenders

had kickass sushi and bakery goodies

received awesome wheels from mconlonx that only took 2 days to ship to my house, mounted the front wheel but i gotta get some housing to route the shifter cable so ill take care of that tomorrow

excited to get 3 hours of sleep and then ride to work in the morning with new goodies

sad that i realized i forgot to make myself food for this week and ill have to buy mall food tomorrow

school was never interesting or challenging for me until I was in my last 3 semesters (mostly last two) of college.

also muffin man FWIW i wasn't the best high school student and as such I didn't get into my first choice: UC Santa Cruz. My degree is from the csu analogue Humboldt State. Perhaps if I went to the UC I would have gone straight into graduate school (im going 2014) instead of getting an industry job, but I appreciate the perspective and real world experience im getting.
