Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? The "muckybrake" allows the user to satisfy the letter of the law without embracing the spirit of the law.

i know this isn't a serious thing and all but if you're gonna run a brake why not just throw it up front where it'll actually be useful? just sayin

something about the law saying you need a brake that can lock up the rear wheel or else you might still get a ticket for having a front brake only.

Unless you've somehow managed to be everywhere all the time, you'll never really know.

on the concept:

ill shoot some shots specifically for the keirin-brake-mount-a-la-homme-dépot later~ meanwhile this can get the discussion started.

*p.s. guys the law says "skid" = think about it, you cant skid if its front only

Indeed.

Thought I will say I haven't seen it either. I thought I saw a thread somewhere about the laws (I thought it was in this thread, but guess not) of having brakes.

It must suck having cops and judges who're interested in enforcing the letter of the law and not its intent.

^ Yeah, the mechanic at the bike shop was confused too when I asked him to do the install (best to leave this kind of stuff to the pros)

I just told him "it's a fixie thing, you wouldn't understand"

He charged me $85.00, I think I got a good deal.
