You have inspired me.
I was on my way to class earlier and some car was following behind me, he seemed patient enough, but eventually the guy couldnt take it and tried to pass several times but was obstructed. Eventually I got stuck behind a right turning mail truck and as I try to pass it on the left the ass comes to my left and squeezes me towards the truck on my right. I follow him (goes along my route anyway) and 5 miles later I see him move to the right and pull into a parking space, so I pull up, wave to him, and ask if he remembers me. He looked pretty confused about what had just happened and the passenger was laughing

Today, for the first time in two weeks, I wasn't honked at, cut off, aggressively overtaken or shouted at.
After nearly getting run over yesterday by some idiot who apparently needs to win the 20-metre race to the red light. The guy couldn't have been more than centimetres away from my rear, honking that I should "move to the right, clear the road!" - the lane to my right was a parking lane. Ugh.

all these anecdotes remind me why I am glad to live in a small town. Very little traffic, and when I do encounter it, most drivers seem to know how to handle the situation. Except for the tourists. Especially the ones from New Jersey

My mom actually moved to a small town when she "turned serious" with cycling: Her current place of residence has about 4000 residents, mostly children, and very few cars.

Saturday I got hit by a car and got a concussion. They didn't stop and I had to crawl around campus to find security with my broken bike. **** hit and runners, and wear a helmet.

DUDE! It ****ing happened again today, except the idiot yelled to me "youre not a car, *******" then zoomed away and almost crashed.
This is what I get for riding though ****ing Beverly Hills this week. I think I'm going to slap a mirror next time.

Moar width!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We need more physical width while riding; I propose we all ride with 2x4's in our messenger bags.

yesterday a girl i'm friends with was riding over to join another friend and I at the Oven. On her way over a woman yelled at her to get out of the road. After refusing the woman maliciously hit her with a car. There were witnesses and a police report was filed.

I watch out for bikes (driving or riding), just like I like it when they watch out for me.
What scares the heck out of me is when I'm driving down the highway at 60 mph and some clueless dude on the road bike is not paying any attention to his surroundings and swerves all over the lane. When there are Semi-trucks, dump trucks, and cars going very fast, it pays to be overly cautious.
Then there is the local campus, where the bike riders simply ride out in front of you and pay absolutely no attention to anything. God must be watching out for them as the kids are clueless. I was riding on the local trail when in front of me, 2 girls are jogging. I yell "On your left". The one on my side does not move, so I take the edge of the pavement and end up scaring the crap out of her. I could hear her friend say "He said - On Your Left". I guess I need to get one of those air horns for the old farts who can not hear and the fools who don't pay attention.
You can not stop the truely brainless. There was an accident last month, where a woman (in a car) was speeding, passed in a no passing lane, and texting at the same time. She killed the poor folks she hit in the head on collision.

I swear, reading all these stories just make me angry inside. I better not get on my bike for a bit
Stupid guy in a company van was making a right turn today on a red light making the biker in front of me swerve to avoid him. The driver refused to apologize then slows down taunting the biker. Right there I wished I had a u-lock with me.
I been wanting to run a water bottle mount just so I could carry an airhorn with me. I think I will do that this week

Couple months ago I was riding on the local MUP when I guy walking his dog yelled at me to "take my bike to the road". It was a nice day and a bunch of people were out, wonder if he yelled at everyone that rode past lol

Stories like these are the reason I think I better invest in 2 GoPro cameras - one for the back and one for the helmet. If anything happens, I'll have video evidence.

Last night, at the back of a night ride going about 12 mph, waiting for friends to catch up who'd been left behind, I was on the farthest right, in the far right lane, in bumper-to-bumper traffic, when a car started to cut me off. When I yelled out to get the driver's attention, I could tell by the shrug of her shoulders and her gesturing that she'd seen me riding alongside her car all along, but she veered suddenly in order not to miss her street. It was a deliberate attempted assault, and in hindsight, I should've taken her plate down, and called the police. I don't brandish a u-lock, or wear a 10-lb chain on my waist, but I will take a lane whenever I feel unsafe in a thick ride, or at risk riding along the right side, in a blind spot, or within inches from the gutter. "Car back, car back" has it's merits, but I have a right to the road as much as a motor vehicle, and last night I should've taken the lane.

Protip: When attacking commercial vans, hit where the windows would've been on the van; they dent easier.
