Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

the skipping is right around the 1 minute mark.

i believe that lucas rides a multi-gear bike, but some of the guys in his videos ride fixed. you've just gotta watch for them.

I am checking around for a FTP program that has interrupt tolerance that you could use to download this and other big files. What problems did you have downloading it from the www.digave.com/videos site? If your connection is poor or intermittent an interrupt tolerant FTP client can help. Try...

https://sourceforge.net/project/showf...group_id=21558

and select FileZilla_2_2_9_setup.exe for download.

Documentation here:
https://filezilla.sourceforge.net/documentation/

digave.com doesn't seem to allow FTP. There may be mirrors. Hope this helps.

165, mpeg is already compressed, zip won't knock it down much more.

This video had a lot of coasting in it- not that there is anything wrong with that, but I didn't see any skidding... unless possibly the guy with the red bike and yellow stripe on his back, since he is possibly unloading his seat while he stops pedalling. Not that I even care. Frankly, anyone can ride faster on a geared road bike anyway...

You can try wget.exe.
Open a command prompt and use this command.

wget https://www.digave.com/videos/sfx-web.mpg

He must have sped that film up a little bit or else those guys were flying compared to some of the other videos I have seen on his site.

geared or not, i don't care. those guys are pulling some mad moves in traffic, and i just like to watch.

fwiw, grabbing a pull from buses & cars would be hell while fixed.

People do it all the time. Not this person, rarely is traffic moving fast enough that it'd be even worth it, so my skitching skills aren't up to snuff even in the case that it'd be useful, at least not on a bike. (I have skitched on inline skates at 50mph!)

It's not too difficult. 'Bout the same as on a geared.

Every onece in a while I see a fix rider. The one just after the 1 minute mark is definately fixed. His cadence is a lot higher than many of the others and he is definately skidding as he moves in between the cars. I'm glad they took down the track bike vid. that thing just sucked.

not really know him, but i've met and ridden with him a few times off road. mostly on some mellow group rides in the fells (i lived in boston a few years) with a local mtb group.

don't know him well at all, but he is a pretty damn cool guy. and wicked fast on any bike.

i recall seeing him cruising down some pretty ugly trail chatting on his cell phone, riding no handed, mess bag flying all over the place. very talented rider.

Did anyone watch the "Drag Race NYC" vid? Is there a post about it. If not, who here actually rides like that? Looking at the footage, it doesn't look like a person, let alone a bike could get through some of those gaps. These guys are nuts! I especially love the footage of the guy riding past the tour bus, rubbing his hand along the whole way. Crazy mo-fo's thats for sure!
