Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Bikesdirect.com has good deals. If you don't know how to maintain your own bike you should check out your local bike shops. Most people here will tell you that the Mercier Kilo TT from bikesdirect is the best deal for a starter fixed gear.

now now boys...

these threads pop up several times a week (a day sometimes) so members who have been here awhile can get little annoyed & would prefer new members to lurk/search/read through old threads before creating yet another "what bike?" thread. That said, @ $279 shipped the Windsor Hour: https://www.bikesdirect.com/products/windsor/thehour.htm seems to be an attractive & reliable poor people bike.

there is an extensive thread discussing it here: https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...t=windsor+hour

umm pretty much like $450 tops......i might make an exception and build like my dream bike which would be like Eight Inch Butcher frame and then build it up from that....that would cost a lot though
