Goes between the rollers, without it you have a trainer without stabilization.

I see, are they expensive or hard to find? I can't find much of anything about these rollers on Google.

It's not cheap, but I do have a crankset/bb and pedals that can be used. Would just need a suspension fork, wheels, and post, stem, saddle, deraillieur, shifter, chainguide, cassette.

i say buy it just so i can oogle at your pictures of it

$30 bucks - could probably offer $20

Just pay the $30.

I bought a pair of older rollers as well this year (american classics for $80), the band was shot, so I picked a new band for $15 on ebay- http://www.ebay.com/itm/321054196552...84.m1497.l2649

So, for less than $50 you're in business, that's a damn good deal.

Thanks for the insight. I'm fine with paying the $30 I just don't want to not be able to find a replacement band and have a useless set of rollers. I don't know if those bands are universal / hard to find etc.

Should I sticker bomb my work stand?

Nagrom_ 02-28-13 12:32 AM

What kind of stand?

I'm actually not sure if it's possible to ride rollers with the front wheel not spinning. I tried and my wheel just kept trying to turn 90 degrees and the rear was WAY too easy to spin.

Hence, without stabilization...

Should I just say screw it and get a pake?

What else have you been looking at?

Dannihilator 02-28-13 10:40 PM

Been on the fence between the rum runner and the cinelli gazzetta. The rum runner would allow me to keep my plans of building that Full Suspension bike. The cinelli, not so much. Also thinking about going custom through gunnar/waterford.

TMonk 02-28-13 10:48 PM

Aren't you using this frame to do longer road rides? Like regular rides in the 2+ hour range????

You should get something with water bottle cage mounts.

I know how to put bottle cage mounts onto a frame, so that's not a huge issue, will be awhile until I decide on what I go with. The DMR will easily keep me occupied. I'm considering track frames solely because I want something that can do both.

This year has been a disaster, weather has been sucky, mileage is way down from last year, head has simply been with the Dirt Jumper.

TheRealFaux 02-28-13 10:54 PM

Waterford!

Should I.... buy this and change the funky handlebars to some mtb flat bars and swap the seat for something useful and maybe get a smaller rear gear. It is an old Schwinn frame that has been powdercoated.

listed @ $100

I know some one said that old schwinns are craptastic junq, the guy said this was a "Racer" and it looks like what I can afford while back in the states for 3 months and is better than 98% of the bikes here in Cambodia. So knowing that is was a Racer frame does this change anything?

I guess I missed the OP. Old Schwinns usually aren't all that crappy. Very heavy, sure, but...

Seems a little high but I'd be kinda tempted.

I can imagine a lot of Flying Pigeons and the like over there.

I'd go for North Roads or similar in the bar department.

I'd rather have a $100 thruster fixie from walmart than that. It's an electroforged schwinn, you really don't want any part of it.

It was only a racer in the sense that it originally came with drop bars.

Should I pick this up for $35 ? He won't go any lower because he apparently spent about that on new tires + tubes.

I don't know much about Free Spirits, but I was thinking it would be cool to convert to a townie or just leave is stock for putting around town/tinkering.

I would prefer something lugged, maybe i'll wait for something better to come along?

seau grateau 03-02-13 04:22 PM

At that price, I'd consider buying it just to have a beater/loaner bike around.

Yeah I think I'm going to pick it up next week, was wondering if you guys thought it had any potential for a fixed gear conversion.
