If you do, I'll buy your cateye.

Well the rational answer would be to weigh your options. Which do you want more? I think the garmin would be more useful, but if you need a new kit then that is important as well.

Muffin Man 05-09-13 08:52 PM

I was kinda leaning towards the Garmin as well. I have 2 pairs of bibs, and 3 jerseys, so I mean I just need to wash them a lot, which isn't a big deal.

I guess the question becomes, are HRM and cadence sensor worth it in the future?

SpeshulEd 05-09-13 09:27 PM

I bought a garmin 510 because I was getting tired of using my phone as well...honestly, I love it. Its a very handy piece of equipment. I'd recommend a garmin to anyone.

Personally, I'd get some cheap bibs and jerseys off of chainlove or theclymb and splurge on the electronics. Yeah they might not be super cool and the chamois probably won't be the greatest, but electronics are more fun in my book. Then save cash on the side and when some nicer gear comes along at a marked down price, you can jump on it.

Muffin Man 05-09-13 11:31 PM

Yeah I think I'm going to get the Garmin. Time to hit up eBay...

thebrad20 05-10-13 12:31 AM

Should I buy an Eighth Inch Manifest as a second bike? Seems pretty decent for the money.

seau grateau 05-10-13 12:36 AM

Meh.

Kayce 05-10-13 07:22 AM

Is there a purpose for a second bike, other than just wanting something new? Whats your first bike?

thebrad20 05-10-13 09:39 AM

Well other than just wanting something new as you stated I want one as a back up just in case something was to happen to my first bike. My bike now is a Mercier Kilo tt.

yummygooey 05-10-13 10:01 AM

save your money for something that is better than your current bike

Never again.

is it? what didn't you like about it? and yeah, my plan is to find something much cheaper (and now hopefully of better quality) than brooks tape, I just would like to have my seat and tape look decent together

It's made in china, peiced together from like 50 different cows, thin as hell, tears easy, doesn't match their saddles, overpriced, stains easy, color runs.

It's very bad.

thebrad20 05-10-13 12:23 PM

Yeah I thought about spending the money for an Affinity lo pro or a Spicer track frame but I'm honestly not really wanting to spend over $300 or $400 on a new frameset.

seau grateau 05-10-13 12:28 PM

You can still do better than the Manifest (VISP) at that price point.

thebrad20 05-10-13 12:41 PM

I'm open to any recommendations if you guys have any. I've been shopping around and definitely open to something else depending on what it is.

perfect, will never have to consider it again. That is a shame though, their saddles seem so high quality that I expected it to run throughout their product line.

OneGoodLeg 05-10-13 01:08 PM

Nope. I've heard alot of complaints about their bartape.

There's a bunch of Dolan framesets on eBay for ~350 right now if an alum track frame is what you're after.

This, no one answered.

yummygooey 05-10-13 01:50 PM

If you want to use it then it will be worth it.

Cynikal 05-10-13 02:16 PM

I have found them useful. Are you planning on racing or training with intervals? Then they can be useful.

Muffin Man 05-10-13 07:21 PM

I'm probably going to use the HRM, so I'm getting the 500.

Jesse8 05-14-13 08:17 AM

replace the stock handlebars on my se lager with drops and move the brakes? or just get some bullhorns? I'm currently riding daily/every other day, for about an hour, trying to build up stamina to take longer rides.

EnzoRWD 05-14-13 09:24 AM

powdercoat my GTB back to black and get all D-A track bits or keep riding as is (krylon gray with campy parts bin bits)?

Scrodzilla 05-14-13 09:54 AM

That shouldn't even be a question.

yummygooey 05-14-13 10:00 AM

should i get black or hard any archetypes to use with my rim brakes? hard ano is $25 more/rim.

Scrodzilla 05-14-13 10:22 AM

Either one will be streaky after a while.

yummygooey 05-14-13 10:29 AM

yea, that's what i read on the webz. might as well just save fiddy bux and get the black ones. they'll wear out faster and look normal instead of confused.

the next question is what lacing should i do? prolly going with sapim lasers and a race NDS. 32h on CK hubz & silver spokz... i'm 145lbs.

Mumonkan 05-14-13 10:46 AM

Im gonna say 2x unless its for cross

yummygooey 05-14-13 10:48 AM

it's for everything (serious)
