Should I sell my Novatecs to A23's to fund Novatecs to Archetypes?
I need more stiffness. More/thicker spokes and a deeper rim. I'm too heavy/strong for these. Major brake rub front and rear. New build would be: Front: 28h Archetype Sapim Lasers Sapim Brass nipples Novatec A291SB or A141SB 2 cross Rear: 32h Archetype Sapim Race Sapim Brass Nipples Novatec F162SB or F482SB 3 cross |
should i have my frame builder buddy with a CNC lathe mill down my dura ace 7800 hub so i can run other cassettes besides 10sp shimano?

Should I buy a few pairs of new bib shorts or a few pairs of new jeans? I only have 2 bibs, but on the other hand i've been ignoring my wardrobe for about a year and spending literally all my money on bike stuff(finishing my pake and now my cdale.) |
i only had two pairs of bibs over the summer and i was just rotating them every day.
BUT if you go the bib route, and if you don't already have some... i would recommend investing in some nice bibs. i notice a big difference in the chamois quality and placement between my $110+ primal custom bibs versus my $40 pearl izumis. i'd wear my primals every ride if it were hygienic. |

The A23's are great, don't get me wrong. They handle amazing, but the rubbing is ridiculous. My calipers have to be pretty much open to stop them from rubbing.
I'm hoping the Archetypes handle similarly, but will be stiffer. |

Why not get a pair of bibs and a pair of jeans? instead of all or nothing? |
nagrom - i would say a deeper rim is in order, as well is higher spoke count. don't know what your A23's are spoke count wise, but I would go one step up with a deeper rim too.
jdg - if your friend has means to precisely characterize the dimensions of the hub and is good with some g-code software like autocad or solid works, then absolutely CNC that ****. If he plans on operating the machine manually, then do what you want but those are expensive hubs and you better have a lot of trust in this guy. |
Honestly i'm trying to get my cdale together as as fast as I can. I can buy nice bibs or nice jeans OR by both and dip into my groupset fund in the process which i'm trying to avoid but slowly considering.

I'm kinda done worrying about weight. Don't really want to sacrifice performance for a handful of grams. ****, the caad will still be under 15.5. |

current - 32h archetype (slightly deeper rim) to high flange hub with lasers. just a solid rim from the time you unpack it, and through the build and out to the road. previous- 32h A23 to 105 hub with dt comp spokes. solid wheel overall and yes they handle just as well. if you can get anything from that, cool, but the current rim is staying put. |

I don't like my Spin doctor one, it has 3 legs and takes up a ton of space. I'd be willing to trade you +cash if you bought the pcs10 |
Haha whatstand do you have?

Should I use red hubs on the archetypes? I think a few more red splashes would look good on the caad.

Yup, especially if theyre low flange

thats hawt. red hubs would be kewl, but possibly ever so slightly overkill. either way imo

I'd like to come in during off-hours a couple hrs/week and teach myself how to operate it and how to use software like solidworks. Same goes w the 3d printer. |
