Throwing a front brake on my kilo soon, it's rocking b43s at the moment so should I sell it for cash then build up a whole new wheel or should I just trade a friend for a machined deep v?

johnnytheboy 06-20-13 01:59 PM

agree 100% with you guys....just needed a push in the right direction.

Brown or black suede turbo 1980 reissue? If it matters, bar tape varies in color with the mood.

Wut 06-21-13 01:06 AM

I like brown.

Should I....

Go clipless? Really liking the platforms with running shoes right now.

Should I buy a Charge Knife saddle to replace the Tioga Spyder on my Leader 721TR, which is killing me ? I like the sleek shape and light weight of the Spyder, just don't like the lack of padding or soft cover.

Yes.

Huffandstuff 06-21-13 10:41 AM

I've got one of.those charge saddles and its perfect for my ass. Done 50 to 60 mile rides with no chamois padding and felt perfectly fine after, best thirty dollars I've ever spent.

You've got the Spoon, right ? That's the Knife, and it's narrower. I've got a Spoon and it's super comfy.

Huffandstuff 06-21-13 01:16 PM

Oh my bad, didnt know what I had but thought it was the same seat. Either way that spyder looks very unpleasant on the grundle.

websterrr 06-22-13 01:53 PM

That's a really nice bike. Shoe size seems kinda small for the size of the frame though ;)

Look at how the seller has slammed the saddle. No doubt the reason it's being sold is that it's way too big for him. That bike is hairnet's size.

ha ha ya, i think I wore size 10s in sixth grade?

rms13 06-22-13 02:52 PM

replace my super cheap high ten steel fixie with this slightly less cheap crmo bike

http://www.red2bicycle.com/products/...view-only.html

I'm strangely drawn to the triple triangle frame even though I know there is no real advantage and most people seem to think the design is dated. But at least I won't look like every other person riding a fixie around L.A.

Should I rewrap my bars so the tape goes to the stem? Here's a pic of how they're wrapped now for reference:
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=324942

If so should I wrap from the inside out using no finishing tape and the bar plugs to hold it together or out inwards like you do with drops.

And finally, tape recommendation? I'm leaning towards Cinelli gel cork which is what I have on there now and pretty comfortable; but I hear good things about the Fizik microtex tape and kinda like the look.

Another saddle question. I've been riding my orange themed bike for 3 years and bought a cheap Origin 8 Urban Pro saddle just because they had one in orange, but it's a real azzhatchet even on short jaunts around my hood. So, I was thinking of getting a Charge Bucket, which is also available in orange and is a copy of an 80s Turbo, but with a synthetic cover instead of leather. It's pretty cheap, but I don't want to simply be replacing one uncomfortable saddle with another, even if it's fairly cheap. So, should I get the Charge Bucket or just stay with the Origin 8 ?

The material in the bucket is a lot more firm than the turbo, which you may or may not like. I hated mine instantly.

Good to know, thanks. I have several of the original Turbos, and they are already plenty firm for me, so I definitely wouldn't want anything firmer. Sounds like the Bucket is a lot different from the Spoon, which I have and like a lot.

Edit: I found an orange Fyxation Curve saddle, which is a similar Turbo copy at a low price. One review says it is softer than a Turbo, so maybe it will work for me.

Confirmed. It's a little larger than a Turbo and is considerably softer.

1- If you wanna cover up all your street creds.
2- Doesn't really matter, but I always wrap from the ends of any bar.
3- Microtex is good if you want something with good grip and no cush (good if you ride with gloves). Personally, I prefer cork (gloveless).

will also vouch for this.

big fan of the charge saddles. I rock the spoon and the bucket and love them both.
here's my bucket

greatly prefer the bucket over the turbo saddles I've used in the past although I've come to like the vette turbo on my track bike
