Should I.........

Since I don't ever get on the bottom of the drops, cut about 4" off the end of my Pro Wings. Or, get a set of Hood Rats and try my plan on them first********************???

Bullhorns are not an answer, nope, no way. I only go to the downward bend with palms inwards, the downward bend is important for finger placement and overall comfort. I would get to the hoods, except I don't have any (ft. cross lever close to the stem).

Save the Wings and kill a Rat. Or, go for it??

Nagrom_ 05-14-13 04:20 PM

Why do that at all? Are you pulling a FixedDriveJess and trying to save 10 grams?

gregjones 05-14-13 04:26 PM

Not weight savings at all. Hell, I just got a heavy ass Thomson seat post, a set of A530 pedals and a Bud tall boy holder (insulated!!).;)

There are a few roadies around here.............never talked to one of them. I do get the looks at the corner store. I just thought that would be something for them to look at. Other than VeloDuck.

Nagrom_ 05-14-13 04:36 PM

Eh, I wouldn't cut them. Doesn't accomplish anything except killing their resell value.

And making your bike look like it belongs in the jackass thread.

seau grateau 05-14-13 04:51 PM

Do it so we can post your bike in the J/A thread.

The first cross is right as it leaves the hub flange.

i thought it was that and only one other one, i think my brain got dazzled and was confusing spokes that i thought were on the other side

even though now when i say that out loud it sounds completely dumb.

I had to squint, haha.

With modern rims and hubs 32h is a lot. So you can get the same strength with 2x spokes, as the older 32h 3x. The weight drop from 3x to 2x is pretty significant, and I personally really dig the 2x look.

Not at all. Just did a quick spoke length calculation for a front CK to an Archetype. Spoke length was 285mm vs 291mm. Lasers weigh .017g/mm (rounding up even). 6mm difference per spoke, 32 spokes, totals a savings of 192mm worth of spoke length. Less than a single spoke difference.

So that nets less than a 4g savings going with 2 cross over 3 cross.

edit: Also, the difference between 32h 3 cross and 28h 2 cross is less than 30 grams per wheel. Nothing anyone needs to worry about for a "do everything" wheel.

I couldn't answer that, although counting back I have driven 14 Mack trucks totaling hundreds of thousands of miles. Mine were all red.

The bike is too nice as it is do dick up.

I am not surprised you were/are a truck driver.

I feel like you have some ****ing stories to tell.

**** yeah, the right kinda dude to drink with

gregjones 05-14-13 09:58 PM

I was a driver. My second to last ride:
http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s...k/IMG_0152.jpg

79,000 pounds
280 gallons of diesel
600 little kitties
18 speeds
128 MPH

I put 1.4 million miles on that and it was said to be wore out. A few months later in the new "truck", I decided that I was wore out too. And quit. A year ago this week!!!!

Now I drive two wheels, 18 pounds at 14 MPH powered by one old fart.

Everyone my age has stories.;)
