curious how "functional" that thing is a top cap. I have an iphone dock that goes on my topcap and the longer screw they give me doesn't quite do the job it seems and I feel like there's a little play in my headset.
If your skeptical of included hardware, remove, loosen all stem bolts, install orig. top cap and bolt, set preload, tighten stem bolts, remove orig. cap then replace dock hardware. LSS, once you tighten your stem to the steerer the top cap bolt has no sway over headset tightness. You can remove top cap and bolt and headset will maintain bearing setting you gave it. |
Carbon rails scare me.

If I had carbon rails, I'd probably never cross mount :(

I want to build a new rear wheel that has both fixed/fixed so I can easily switch between cogs. The question is, do I get a Dura Ace hub or a phil hub? Im pretty sure you can buy a fixed/fixed from both.
Also, what rim should I get? I think I am off my Mavic CXP33 fix since I already have that set up as a track wheel. Was thinking Velocity Deep V or **********??? |

Now that I've got a lawnmower to cut the grass myself instead of paying a lawn service company, should I also get a trimmer / edger so my yard looks nice and tidy like it did when the lawn service was doing it ? And if I do, should I get a 2-stroke gas one or cordless electric ? There really isn't all that much trimming or edging to be done, so maybe I won't bother doing it this year and see how bad it looks w/o it.

Do you have a weed-eater? If so, with a little practice you can edge a perfect line with that. I had a little lawn service business in college and we just used the string trimmer to edge. As long as you keep it up and don't let the edge get really thick and overgrown, it's a piece of cake.

That ought to do the trick. But I'd go for gas powered or get an extra battery to keep on the charger. Nothing is more frustrating than an electric tool running out of juice in the middle of a job.

oh hi!
i have an old timey looking phillips frame from the 60's with a front rack, risers, and coaster brake wheelset with 700x28 tires. im thinking a sprung saddle would be awesome on it. im torn though on what saddle. brooks comes to mind first...but the bike is psuedo-beater status and perhaps brooks is a bit overkill.... here are the options im looking at. should i get this.... http://www.crowcycleco.com/media/cat.../560-024_4.jpg gyes for 60 buks http://www.crowcycleco.com/gyes/gyes...d-springs.html or this http://www.permaco.com/media/CHAMPIONbig.jpg in black at permaco.com for 74 or this http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3145/2...e3b_z.jpg?zz=1 http://www.ebay.com/itm/290639921716...84.m1423.l2649 crazy hairpin saddle from Rideable Bicycle Replicas for 45 |
Should I get Oakley wrap around prescription glasses (currently wear wayfarers with prescriptions) or a Garmin Edge 500?
Eye protection is important, but I have been getting by with my specs. The Edge 500, I feel would push me to train harder and be competitive. Thoughts? |

The optics on my Oakleys are TERRIBLE. Tons of distortion at the periphery. Also, you can only go to -3.00, so if you're Magoo you're screwed. Consider contact lenses instead.

I have two very low end cranksets that I have to choose from.
I have the stock cranks from the motobecane track, which I believe are Lasco cranks, and a Pake crankset. Which one should go on for now? (lesser of two evils) |
Should I go threadless on the 930?

Unless Novatec is paying you a lot of money to advertise their wheels, I'd take them off for sure.

@yummy - do it.
|
Just to be a contrarian, I say keep them. But I like them because they're relatively uncommon (I think? Maybe just me?). Take em off and they're just another set of black deep rims. And your bike is logo free so it's a nice contrast.
