Should I:

1) Buy this and this

OR

2) Buy this

OR

3) Work with a local bag designer to come up with something custom, built specifically for my wants and needs.

Cheaper bags almost never talk up how they clamp to the bars, which indicates to me that they suck. I don't want to spend 250-300 bucks on something like a Giles Berthoud, even tho I'm sure they're the bomb and probably worth the money. Also, I was hoping for something waterproof, but I can't seem to find that without going to something like an Ortlieb.

I'm so torn.

Should I use the M900 crankset I already have on the bike, or a Truvativ Stylo crankset?

Roasty 01-17-12 08:32 AM

hey guys,

was just about to pull the trigger and order some rims and track hubs to put together a wheelset..

wondering, are there cons to buying a road wheelset with shimano/campy cassette hubs and using the track conversion kits? other than price.

**oh wait.. forgot that most road hubs are 130mm...

I saw this on the leader page, has anyone ever used this? Do you guys think it even works?

cc700 01-21-12 05:01 PM

it can't work that well. might work for the occassional puddle if you don't mind a few drops compared to a few dozen drops.

Sherblock 01-21-12 05:04 PM

Just buy a full fender. It's like $30 a set, and if you don't want a front you don't have to put it on.

Should i buy my friends hpluson wheelset front radial laced to phil, rear to formulas for 225 or save up for new frame (riding conversion for some time, currently riding a rear deep v to formula)? argg

cc700 01-23-12 03:01 AM

new frame, your wheelset is good enough and the frame will be a huge improvement. not so much with the hplusson/formula/phil.

redpear 01-23-12 03:06 AM

That said,
Should I keep saving and get my dream frame even though I'll be moving my relatively inexpensive components to it?
or
Buy a cheaper frame and upgrade current components. I don't feel like I want anything in particular right now...

A big factor is that my current frame is too small for me.

cc700 01-23-12 03:33 AM

the frame you want is always better than the frame you settle for. you only live once, get what you want and don't settle.

TheRealFaux 01-26-12 12:27 AM

Should I get a black or silver wheelset? Looking at Sun M13s. Or should I get something similar to what is pictured? In the pic below, the rear hub is shot and the front wheel is not mine.

Dis is ma biek

Silver M13's, they be pretty

yummygooey 01-26-12 04:22 PM

M13s or Open Pros would look nice, imo.

Should I paint my fork black?

striknein 01-26-12 04:45 PM

No. Replace it instead.

cc700 01-26-12 05:05 PM

get a khs fork!

yummygooey 01-26-12 05:18 PM

What KHS fork?!

cc700 01-26-12 05:57 PM

the one that usually comes with the kilo. it's sold a lot of places as an unbranded track fork.

yummygooey 01-26-12 05:58 PM

But the TET is 1-1/8"! Does anyone make a similar fork in 1-1/8"? I don't want to pay for a Devolution headset cuz that's dumb.

yummygooey 01-26-12 06:49 PM

Having a hard time finding one for a decent price.

hamfoh 01-27-12 10:01 AM

should I punch out my plugged fork for the ms150 ride (I'm not worried about the hills as much as I am people who never ride randomly braking on them) -- grab some ebay carbon fork - or just htfu

jasonnc80 01-27-12 10:14 AM

keirin brake, prob cheaper than an ebay fork. Of course I'd punch it if it were mine but I don't ride brakeless

yummygooey 01-27-12 10:35 AM
