Does anyone here have any experience with DZR or Chrome clipless shoes? Which is better in terms of comfort while riding?

I bought the DZR jetlag or whatevers ( https://brimages.bikeboardmedia.netdn...Shoes-Main.jpg), I've got absolutely no complaints. The straps on them haven't ever pulled out when stopping or anything like that and have no problem on 50-60 mile rides with my feet hurting. Plus, you can barely tell they are SPD shoes and don't clack at all when in the store and whatnot.

I refuse to buy anything chrome though, so there's that.

My bud loves his chrome shoes, but he is a chrome junkie.

I have the Chrome ones, I'd bet the DZR's are better though.

Chrome Midways run half a size big.

I have dzr midnights and they are great. I can't stand in them all day but riding in them is almost as good as cycling specific shoes.

They're uncomfortable for walking and aren't good cycling shoes. I wouldn't recommend them, but if you had to pick one get the DZRs.

I see. Well my friend swears by his Chrome Turks, but he's only done like 11 miles in them at the most. I think I'll stick with my Shimano m162 for now though.

I'm building a 26" single speed commuter. Should I keep use some unbranded/unknown sealed bearing hubs or a set of Shimano Deore LX (loose-ball) hubs?

Bikes: everywhere

I'd probably go LX. Get a thick cog, cuz I think those have aluminum freehub bodies.

Ive done 50-60 mile rides and my feet felt fine the whole time. I just find it hard to wear a road shoe when in cut offs, just looks awful so the dzrs are perfect for summer time riding around/activities(assuming this is what you are looking for).

Started saving for my next bike. Should I build up an On One Pompino (commuter, errand, everyday bike), or a Pake French 75 (longer, faster rides)? They will serve different purposes obviously, and I plan to build up both...eventually.

I think a pompino is better, it is a very versatile bike

Convert or buy new?

Should I...

Convert my '81 Sekai (see sig) to ss/fixie, or buy a new complete bike from BD?

I don't understand 100% everything I would need, but I have a few parts I could sell/trade.

Pretty sure I'd need: new chainring, cog, hub, spacers or wheel, bar tape, and maybe more?

Which would be more wallet-friendly?

I'd just buy a new bike. I'd only convert if drivetrain components irreparably broke down. Plus, you'd get to shop for a new bike!
