part out/sell my vigorelli and get something made of steel?
a wabi, new 5th anniv. big block, or a bareknuckle are what i had in mind.
those framesets seem to be more geared towards general street use and commuting.

I'm thinking of getting a new backpack for school, what should I get?
Messenger bag, or a backpack? I'm probably going to carry a 13" laptop, some binders, and books.

I use one for a 15.6" laptop, books, binders etc. It can fit a lot more than it looks like, and things can be strapped outside of it using its closing system.
You can fit about 25 cans of Arizona in one.
If you think you need more room than that, try out the Fitzroy.

Yeah my Chrome Pawn is great but it has surprisingly little space. This is because the bag is designed to distribute the weight closer to your body so that it is better balanced for biking.Originally Posted by Mumonkan

I want to put a fixed clog on free wheel side of flip/flop. I have brakes and don't put back pressure on pedals. I heard a bottom bracket lock ring will keep the cog from coming loose. Will this work well. Is not having a lock ring an issue if I tighten the cog well with chain whip, used brakes and don't put back pressure on pedals?

People do it. With a BB lockring you should be fine. I wouldn't roll without one, personally.

A BB lockring doesn't help very much, since it unscrews in the same direction as the cog. I'd suggest using some Loctite blue threadlocker on the cog threads, which will keep it tight, but still not make it impossible to remove if you ever want to do so. Be sure you thoroughly degrease the cog and hub threads prior to using the Loctite.Originally Posted by bowzette

A BB lockring helps on a "suicide hub" as much as it helps on an actual BB, for what it's worth.

I've been wanting to build another bike. Orange frame, but havent found anything I like. Bikeisland has an orange kilo frame that I really like for $225 should I build this up or keep looking.

Despite all the bickering to be found online (by people who have never tried it), this isn't true at all. If you don't believe me, install a cog & BB lockring on a freewheel hub and try removing the cog with a chainwhip without removing the lockring.Originally Posted by spRICE

I'm not saying it works as well as a proper cog/reverse-threaded lockring setup but the majority of bull**** you read online about suicide hubs is just that.

Actually I was going to write that the BB lockring helps a lot, but then I though better of it in fear of getting flamed Originally Posted by Scrodzilla

Guess I should just not write about suicide hubs on the internet at all. I actually run a suicide hub almost exclusively (with a brake ofc).Junior Member
Maybe the dumbest question ever asked here, should I get a Motobecane Fantom Cross UNO off BD or a Pure Fix Cycle/some other cheap publicized fixie bike? The Fantom, right? I believe it's way better but I want to make sure. Thanks.
