Nagrom_ 02-05-12 05:06 PM

homebrewk 02-05-12 05:06 PM

Sigh.

Nagrom_ 02-05-12 05:07 PM

you should get a $3.3k wheelset though.

homebrewk 02-05-12 05:47 PM

Nagrom_ 02-05-12 05:49 PM

homebrewk 02-05-12 05:55 PM

No. Just double butted.

Nagrom_ 02-05-12 06:02 PM

how about the nipples? solid gold nipples?

homebrewk 02-05-12 06:12 PM

Yeah. And the tires are hand-woven by artisans in Prussia. (you heard me right)

I hear Prussian quality started to plummet around '47.... even with gold nipples, probably not worth the money....

homebrewk 02-05-12 07:25 PM

Yeah. I'll see if I can get him down to $2500.

if we keep going, the new kids will think we're all serious. kids, we're kidding. uncle jamboo was just being angry for the thing we did to him. he'll forgive us soon.

homebrewk 02-05-12 07:31 PM

Alright... fine. I'm just joking guys.

Nagrom_ 02-05-12 07:37 PM

Prussian handy work is total trash.

Should I buy some Cane Creek Volos?

Crappymonkey 02-12-12 08:34 AM

Should I sell my Gibson Flying V on Craigslist to fund a Chinese frame road build (Cervelo S3 style frame with Campy Veloce components)? I have 13 guitars/basses at the moment and the V is my newest so I have the least connection to it but it's still a sweet guitar.

cc700 02-12-12 08:38 AM

do you have an explorer?

i wouldn't get rid of a v unless i had a real explorer. then i'd drop it like haute fyah

hell, i can't even play more than power chords but i'd stil rather have an explorer than a chinese carbon veloce group build.

maybe a real S3 would be worth getting rid of a gibson...

*goes back to making terrible noises on his epiphone gothic g-400*

I don't have an Explorer which I would also prefer over the V as you can comfortably play it sitting down. However, I do have a Dean Cadillac which has the top half of an Explorer and the bottom of an LP :p . Getting rid of a Gibson isn't an issues as I would still have my '61 re-issue SG and my LP Custom.

Is the Veloce group bad? I've only ever had Shimano (600 and 105) or Sram (Rival) groups on my bikes.

PluperfectArson 02-12-12 04:52 PM

Sell the Flying V. They are ugly as sin, and you should feel bad for having one.

jdgesus 02-12-12 07:02 PM

how old is the V?

and is it stock. and color?

The Flying V is a guitar I do not understand. Sell it.

Sherblock 02-12-12 07:40 PM

2004, stock and red (faded model).

Nagrom_ 02-12-12 08:51 PM

so, the gf's dad just bought a cervelo S2. He gave me a couple choices. I can sell his other two bikes, and keep 50% of what I can get for them.

or I can keep one, and sell the other. same 50%

They're both 61cm's.

I don't really like the Specialized's geo... too upright for me... but it is technically the much nicer bike.
that being said, I would realistically be able to get about 1200-1300 for the Secteur, and 600ish for the Raleigh... so my cut would be like $900-$950, which i'd use to put towards an entry level track bike; which would in turn, being road bike-less, end my triathlon career, and start my track career.

so... what should I do? help me out bf.

@nagrom

Theres nothing a 17degree stem and a slam can't fix. The secteur is a very fast bike and you can set it up as such; since when has the roubaix lost races because of a more relaxed geometry?

I say take the secteur if it fits and let him keep the raleigh, or keep one and not the other. I wouldn't take both.

I'll see what I can do. Thanks for the input. I'll see if I can get it to fit how I'd like. You make a damn fine point.

He still wants them both gone. So I'd sell the Raleigh for him; if i can get the Secteur to fit right, I'll keep it, otherwise I'm gonna have to let it go.

Thanks again for the input.
