i searched for some omniums on my local craigslist but none were close to 100. andels im not really a fan of the look and they aren't even cheaper. what is the benefit of the new sugino messengers over this one?
Andels are ~$100 and the bb will be another ~$25 Used omniums will most likely come with the bottom bracket, and you could probably find a set for <$140 The andels and omniums are 144bcd, the track standard. The messengers are 130bcd. |
should i get the wabi wheelset or these http://www.retro-gression.com/produc...c-track-wheels from scrod?
|
Andels look good. they look nice and beefy.
|
What exactly entices you about the Sugino Messengers Stezzy? Why are you drawn to them over other options?

Those messengers are $115 shipped and you still need to buy a bb ($30-$45)

I was unaware the stock bb was sqaure tapered and had a matching spindle length, my apologies.
|

|
Holy ****. Good job.
Also, that "before" pic looks gory / creepy / awesome Edit: That was meant for Benson's BMW post. Thought I'd quoted it. |

Should I buy new Record Pista crank and bottom bracket, or new Omniums for my "nice" build? (You know, based on performance, not price/aesthetics).

gxp has a slight advantage on paper which you won't feel at all in real life unless you have a $5000+ track bike. So save your money for other bike stuff and go for omniums; not to mention record pistas are overpriced as a result of the "bling" factor with campy.

If I got my hands on a set used, I would pick them up no worries.
