Those messengers are $115 shipped and you still need to buy a bb ($30-$45)
Andels are ~$100 and the bb will be another ~$25
Used omniums will most likely come with the bottom bracket, and you could probably find a set for <$140

The andels and omniums are 144bcd, the track standard. The messengers are 130bcd.

What exactly entices you about the Sugino Messengers Stezzy? Why are you drawn to them over other options?

why couldn't i reuse the bb i already have? its 103mm just like the messenger calls for and 130bcd isnt really a big deal to me since i wont really be changing my chain ring often.

edit: to be quite honest i like the look of the messenger to pay a few more dollars for something that is aesthetically pleasing and also has similar performance as the closely priced competitors is worth it to me.

Order this too and install it yourself. It's a dead simple job, especially if you have a torque wrench(which most would recommend you get). I had that crankset and had absolutely no issues with it, I'm not even sure why I upgraded, honestly.

Should I buy new Record Pista crank and bottom bracket, or new Omniums for my "nice" build? (You know, based on performance, not price/aesthetics).

gxp has a slight advantage on paper which you won't feel at all in real life unless you have a $5000+ track bike. So save your money for other bike stuff and go for omniums; not to mention record pistas are overpriced as a result of the "bling" factor with campy.

+1, but that is not to say that they aren't sw8! If I got my hands on a set used, I would pick them up no worries.

Word. I would have a set if morons stopped willing to pay close to retail for a used pair.
