Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

This is the first thread I've resurrected from page 2.

Should I buy these wheels? Wondering what my chances of survival are here.

So cheap.... I doubt they'll explode and kill you. If I were you and needed some affordable carbon clinching goodness I would go for it.
And don't worry if they happen to kill you we won't make a SS/FG-wide buffoonery of you. We'll all be very, very, saddd. /feels bad bro cuz my bro died cuz of china carbon sad.

To y - foil or not to y - foil? The decision of which will be an arduous trek.
On another note, it really helps to have connections, a cycling buddy's friend of a relative has one in new years resolution/ collectors condition in my size that he wants gone.
I always struggle at these want vs. need 1st world problems.

Should I sell my fixed gear to save up and get a nice road bike?!

On the fence about selling my fixed gear to save up and get a nice road bike! I really like it, but think I could put more miles on a road bike. Should I just sell the frame and components and save the wheels to make a conversion later? or should I just wait and save up and keep both bikes? I built this baby up myself and am sad to see it go, even though it is just an Origin 8 Del pasado... Should I just get drops and brakes+hoods?!

I've been happy with my Omniums, but not thrilled with them. I had to file the back of the spiders because the thickness was not uniform(I had a set I returned to Scrod prior that was seriously bad), and I managed to flex the DS crankarm 5-7mm into the chainstay. I wouldn't buy Omniums again, I'd probably go with Dura Ace just to try something new. They're a track standard and there is a reason for it.

There was a DA crankset on the paceline forum for $250 shipped. Looked real good. Not sure if it's still there, but it was recent.

imagine this with pink tape (don't worry the reflector is long gone... as is the concor --- LEUKY!)
