What are the open pros laced to? If they're laced to cheapo/ generic hubs you can get a pretty penny selling it on the street/ CL alternatively and buy a set new @ velomine while keeping some in your pocket. And orphan road bike forks are not worth much.

The Open Pro are laced to Phil Woods at the moment.

GENESTARWIND 02-01-13 03:18 AM

He's talking about trading his Aerospoke for Open Sports.

Actually reading posts before responding will cut down on confusion.

I did... replace pro in my post w/ sports then. Geez. Similar names caught me off guard.

bro 02-01-13 03:41 PM

well, the open sports look a whole lot better and are way lighter than the deep v+aerospoke combo, i dont know how much everything costs but as far as that goes i'd say it'd be a good trade

Dannihilator 02-01-13 11:04 PM

Should I take part in a TT this year on the 930?

Jared. 02-01-13 11:21 PM

Yes

AvionHD 02-05-13 08:49 PM

Okay I ended up buying the Mavic Open Sports but I have another question. Should I trade my 700c front Aerospoke for a 650c front Spinergy X. I know it's a lot lighter than my Aerospoke but what do you guys think about it. Pros and cons about it? How durable it is,etc.

Just NO. Spinergy RevX's should be considered taboo nowadays in cycling. They were not designed to last some 20+ years, even if it's a later model one, they haven';t been made since the late 90's. 650c wheels are worthless on the street. Just sell your aerospoke already.

Scrodzilla 02-05-13 09:06 PM

I'd rather have an Aerospoke than a Spinergy any day.

Spoonrobot 02-05-13 09:14 PM

Should I:

Buy a road bike and focus on road racing for the next year or so?

Or

Buy a track bike and focus on track racing for the next year or so?

I can really only afford to do one or the other. Kind of torn, both seem like they'd be super fun.

Mumonkan 02-05-13 09:19 PM

track limits you to the track, road limits you to how far your legs will take you

which is more important?

Adrian_ 02-05-13 09:28 PM

Both?

Kayce 02-05-13 09:40 PM

Track is cheaper, safer, more races, and more variety. Plus it is more fun.

jpsawyer 02-06-13 09:59 AM

Should I upgrade the wheels on my track bike to Archetypes laced to New Sheriff or Novatec hubs or upgrade my cross bike(stem, seatpost, bars)?

Scrodzilla 02-06-13 10:24 AM

Wheels.

Muffin Man 02-06-13 11:51 AM

If.the cross biek fits, then wheels. If it doesn't fit, cockpit.

jpsawyer 02-06-13 11:53 AM

You think the wheels would be an improved difference over the Alex R450 ones I have now? I did the math and the weight savings would just be almost a pound, which I could almost achieve by switching out the spokes to Sapim lasers

Paying a bunch of money to replace spokes but essentially end up with the same wheelset seems like a waste of money.

jpsawyer 02-06-13 12:55 PM

I was going to build up the Archetypes with Sapim Laser spokes, but if I just replaced the straight gauge spokes on my current wheelset they would be a similar weight as the archetypes. That is what I meant to say.

Nagrom_ 02-06-13 01:03 PM

No way you're cutting that much weight using lasers.

Yeah, I have to agree with this. Lasers are obviously lighter than straight-gauge spokes but they're not made of magic.

jpsawyer 02-06-13 01:34 PM

Haha. Damn. My math must suck then. Oh well.
You still think the archetypes would be a better improvement for the money?

UNLESS he has reverse triple butted spokes. Something like 2.0-8.0-2.0.

Those would be heavy.

Well, that's not what I was told, so. . .

If your cross bike fits as is, then wheels would be a better improvement.
