Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

A truly odd question

I was on a group ride the other week when someone asked me the following question:

"Did you mean to buy a bike with only one speed?"

Did he think I was a spectacularly unobservant shopper, or the victim of a particularly nefarious online bike seller? He seemed confused. I'm not sure if I should be offended or not.

Tell him why do you think it is a one speed bike --- there are many speeds, it all depends on how fast/slow i pedal.

Hahahaha today I was on a group ride and some one gave me "advice" that I should bring my bike to a LBS to get my "freewheel" checked out because it wouldn't coast. I just replied thanks! I really don't know whats wrong with it!

lol! I've never met a serious cyclist who didn't know what a fixed gear was.

That reminds me of this one time (three days ago) when I was leaving a bar pretty late and someone yelled after me "NICE SPINERGY ******BAG" and then I started laughing uncontrollably while trying to ride away and I fell over.

One time I was trackstanding at a light waiting for it to change and some guy in a car drove by in the passing lane and yelled "**** YOU!" To this day I don't know what I did that angered him so greatly that he felt the need to shout obscenities at me.

my favorite group ride trick is unclipping both feet while in motion, then explaining the reason i ride it with "it pedals itself".

Maybe someone ran over his dog and then did a trackstand over the corpse.
Whilst driving the other day I had someone cut me off and then give me the finger before I could give it to him. People get stranger by the day.
