This is kinda true. Switching to a more conventional geometry makes it a much more palatable frame.

But they already got the vigorelli. Now what are they gonna do for people (not me) who want the pursuit?

I don't particularly care either way as I'd take a Vig over a Mash because of the geo. I always assumed the Vigorelli was just a Mash with a level top tube.

Holding up pretty good.

If you are in doubt, better use a paint remover, and respray it from the bare aluminum.

But if i were you, i would paint straight on top of the existing coat, and if it failed, them move to the paint stripper.

It's columbus butted tubing, and it's ~$550. Sounds fine to me.

yeah but Columbus what?

is it MAX? SL/SLX? Spirit?

my understanding is columbus cromo is just their name for standard 4130. just like reynolds calls their 4130 "Reynolds 501/520" (i forget which)

at the end of the day your getting generic low end tubing

Scrodzilla 11-03-12 05:12 PM

Then don't buy one.

There, your "problem" is solved.

Lower your expectations. Acciaio is all you get. =/

Scrodzilla 11-03-12 06:31 PM

They're also made in China. OH THE HORROR!!!

never had any sort of problem.

you attempted to critique an assertion i made, and i simply corrected your misleading statement

the gazetta is made of generic 4130 (same material as a kilo tt), you're just paying a premium for the cinelli and columbus names. and of course, there's nothing wrong with that if that's what you want to do with your money.

seau grateau 11-03-12 09:24 PM

All I hear is "blah blah blah blah blah"

I do not think this is accurate.
4130 covers a whole lot of tubesets because 4130 is another name for Cro-moly. Just like 1020 is another name for high-tensile tubing.
Are you indicating a seamed, straight gauge 4130 frame is the same thing as 4130 heat-treated, seamless, triple butted tubing?

The quality depends on the alloy of different metals in the cromo. Cheap 4130 is a lot different than high end 4130.
I do not know what "Columbus Custom" tubesets are. It's hard to know without Cinelli offering more details.

As a steel street/track bike, this is a perfect material for it. If I'm riding steel 'urban' bikes, I want the comfort and light weight of cromo (otherwise known as 4130).

It's interesting that the US Cinelli site indicates butted but Italy Cinelli indicates double-butted. I wonder if this is just promotional info disparity or if there is an actual difference.

As for paying more for Cinelli... yeah, it's Cinelli. Girls can walk around with a paper grocery bag for free but they buy Gucci bags instead.
The Cinelli and Columbus names are brand-quality. It is not generic. So, you are paying for that stamp of quality- just like any other product... basic stuff.

for the life of me i can't understand why you're so butthurt about my comments. i havent said anything offensive or controversial and yet every one of your posts youre throwing a tantrum.

are you shilling so hard for that bike because you use to/currently own it or something? im not saying its **** im saying its name is heavily factored into its price. big whoop.

you are right of course, but in the cycling industry when someone just says 4130 that means bottom of the barrel. proprietary cromo that is an "in house" brand, like the stuff you see on bianchi pistas (bianchi cromo), or fuji cromo etc, is either identical or just a little step up of basic 4130.

the high end 4130 cromo is not just gonna be spec'd 4130 or be called an in house brand like "Bianchi butted cromo" or just "tange cromo" or "columbus cromo". high end tubesets are like True Temper OS Platinum, or Columbus SL etc etc.

i completly agree. wasnt trying to start a fight here. just stating the exact you are, that the gazetta is gonna have a name premium

Anyways, I'll stop posting itt. I think I've made my point.

This is the "appreciation" thread, you can go be a Negative Nancy is half a dozen other threads in this sub-forum alone.

calv 11-04-12 12:15 AM

It's not even that, it's obvious that the discussion is just going to go in circles.

I love how only a month ago, you had no idea what the differences were between cro-mo tubesets and now suddenly you're a ****ing expert.

lol good job at editing your previous post and then meticulously going through my past comments in order to make a snappy comeback. im impressed.

also, really nice fallacy of argument. nothing about me or my history has anything to do with the credibility of my argument or what I am saying.

furthermore, we all learn information, we don't magically conjure it up. im not sure how learning and informing myself, and then spreading that knowledge i amassed is a bad thing.

please proceed to troll me. and everyone else can continue to ride your nuts cause youre a mod.

$10 says you end up banning me anyways because youre so butthurt.
