Looking fora new saddle for the 725. How would you rate the selle italia SLR to the Arione. Or if you dislike both which would you suggest for long rides, but good for urban rides?

Geez. I think I can actually answer this question for scrod, from scrod's perspective. Now I feel like a stalker. A stalker who has no life.

hamfoh 01-29-12 09:52 PM

I happen to find both the SLR and Arione to be really uncomfortable, even with padded liners.

Everyone's butt is different but as I recently said in the RG thread, The Concor is my favorite saddle. The shape prevents you from scooching yourself forward or back on it and when you have it dialed in just right, it's a little slice of heaven.

Another good choice if you don't want to shell out the money for a Concor is the Charge Spoon.

Scrod, I need a 25.4 to 26 shim to use on my pearl 9...can I use an aluminum can?

Scrodzilla 01-30-12 04:35 PM

Yes.

homebrewk 01-30-12 07:03 PM

Will you get a Strava account?

Scrodzilla 01-30-12 07:07 PM

Perhaps.

homebrewk 01-30-12 07:11 PM

...plus Strava has an Android app too!

Scrod,

Have a friend thinking about getting a new 722, but he hates the "Heritage Edition" text. Are the logos/letting under the clearcoat or above it?

Scrodzilla 01-31-12 01:29 PM

Decals are under the clear.

Hey Dave,

Sorry if this was addressed already, do/have you used the park tool TM-1?

I was wondering what kind of spoke tension should I aim for with these lasers and Velocity A23's?

The meter reads ~10-11

Scrodzilla 01-31-12 06:33 PM

I have one but hardly ever use it anymore except to do an occasional check.

Your tension is too low. I'm pretty sure mine are around 18-20ish.

homebrewk 01-31-12 06:43 PM

Have you thought about getting a Strava account?

Scrodzilla 01-31-12 06:44 PM

You just asked me yesterday.

homebrewk 01-31-12 06:55 PM

My bad. Question revoked.

hamfoh 01-31-12 06:59 PM

^ god lol

scrod: why did Thomson switch from normal size bolts to tiny little ones?
I'm used to these
http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Thomson-STEM-...%7E%7E60_3.JPG
last stem I got had 3mm bolts, in both spots, rendering
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...mL._AA300_.jpg
useless

hamfoh 01-31-12 07:00 PM

nevermind, I googled it!

(Thomson is transitioning to a 3mm Allen head with all its stems as a precautionary measure to avoid ham-fisted over-torquing.)

Scrodzilla 01-31-12 07:01 PM

The 3mm bolts bum me out too. The stem on my Kagero had them but I swapped them out.

lol. definitely guilty of hamfisting

Scrod,

On the off chance I need new wheels for my Leader I've been thinking about finally building a set. I'm about 160-165 pounds and was thinking about going with a 20/24 set up. Using a front road hub and possibly a Novatec track rear. For rims themselves though, I haven't got many ideas, I don't want to go weight weeny but I would prefer not to have boat anchors. Any recommendations for rims and if 20/24 would be enough?

Scrodzilla 01-31-12 07:41 PM

I think you'll be fine if the wheels are built right.

I'd go with Aeroheads if you want a low profile or Fusions if you want something deeper without a significant weight increase. Radial front, 2X rear.

Would these http://www.brooksengland.com/catalog...0mm+%26+130mm/

fit these http://www.retro-gression.com/produc...-os-riser-bars ?
