Yo Scrod,do you have a certain type of bag you swear by? Or are you just kind of whatever when it comes to bags?
|
I'm not picky. I've got a couple of Timbuk2 bags - a small and a large - that work well enough. I had a Chrome something-or-other for a little while given to me by a friend that I couldn't stand.

Scrod, how do you pronounce "Kagero"?
Sorry Dave. :p |
Is it possible to get some Kinlins non machined? I've been googling and googling and apparently they are only available in a group buy? And if this is the case, what set of rims would you suggest for a 125~ pounder who bikes road everyday to class. I'm only interested in nonmachined rims =] This set of rims would be my long distance set, and I'm going to get another set just for biking downtown and stuff.
Anyone can answer, I just didn't want to make another thread for this. I'm sure this question gets asked and I usually see Mavics and Kinlins but those come msw =[ |

Scrod, how would you compare clips/straps to just straps (2-3 in track/platform straps)?

My first time posting here (how exciting!) Question for you Scrod:
I have a 2011 Langster Steel and the fork is poop. The chrome on the crown isn't very nice and from what I've heard it's heavy as hell. I have a 61cm frame, so the steerer is about 240mm long, threaded, and 1". The choices I'm considering are either the Nashbar threaded carbon fork which comes in a 240mm steerer length or the Soma Fab Lugged Track fork which comes in a 230mm steerer length. If it were you which of these forks would you consider (or would you consider something else)? Also, if the steerer is only 230mm on the new fork and I have a 240mm steerer right now, how would that work? I know I have a 10mm spacer between the upper and lower nut on the headset. Also, would a black fork (carbon or otherwise) look janky on a chrome frame? Thanks so much for the help. |

Dave - I think he has a threaded setup with a quill stem, so removing the 10mm spacer won't significantly affect stem height adjustability. However, the problem is that some sort of washer is needed between the headset nut and top adjustable cup, and there may not be sufficient threads remaining on the steerer for the nut to engage properly.
|
Oh yeah. I was thinking threadless. Derp on my part.
ATX - you will still need a fork with a steerer that is at least as long as your stock fork. If it's longer, you could always have your lbs extend the threads if needed and cut it to the correct length. |

I tried getting a NMSW Kinlin group buy happening (several times) and there wasn't enough interest to meet the minimum. Oh well.
How about Aeroheads or Fusions? |

Yea, I was looking at those also. I was wondering, since Velocity basically has all colors for all rims, that the colors you listed on your site are the only ones available for that specific rim? I was wondering if I could get a teal Fusion or Aerohead. And if I could, would you have to do a special order on that one? Just trying to color coordinate my rear wheel with my top tube protector :P

Scrod, ever do any mountain biking? I ask because its my first love in cycling and I happened to "discover" fixed gear and track bikes via researching parts for my singlespeed mountain bike.
If so, do you prefer SS vs 1x9 vs 2x10, 26r vs 29er, rigid vs suspention, downhill vs XC. |
1x9 hardtail 100mm front suspension 26er xc
pref steel or ti if i can afford it. ^ i be searching craigslist like mad i used to own one w this description in cawledge. |

Scrod
My seatpost keeps slipping a few mm on my Leader frame. The seatpost is torqued down pretty tight, did I do something wrong? |
Use less grease on the post and tighten it more.

Don't go too crazy. Just tighten it until your post stops slipping and remember that a little torque sometimes goes a long way.
