Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Awkward question, but how does Velomine offer wheelsets so cheap? I was poking around and they seem to offer wheelsets for the same price as the hubs by themselves, albeit they don't really come with fancy rims or spokes, but still (not to mention the cost of labor).

I honestly have no idea. I know they buy in bulk but they're prices are often even lower than bulk wholesale.

Hard to say. Those are two entirely different wheelsets designed for different things.

I would get neither.

What's your intended purpose? Track? Commuting? Everyday bombing around town?

Anything but track. I know the pistards don't like brakes, but maybe I'll go back to brakeless. Such fun times, although it will look weird on my very road oriented Sputnik.

If they won't be seeing the track, why get track wheels? IMO you'd be better off with a well-built set of Fusions.
