i like my novatech hubs, they dont get babied whatsoever and they still spin perfect despite rain/snow/potholes/curbs
|
It seems like there's really no point in buying mid range hubs like All Citys as they are just re-branded Novatechs or Formulas. You might as well either get one of those or step up to Phils or DAs or Pauls or similar. Big price difference and in the case of Phils, big weight difference. Only other option that makes sense to me is finding some NOS Suzue Pro Max.
|
All-City New Sheriff hubs (which are awesome) aren't rebranded Novatecs, just their standard track hubs are.
Gran Compe, Miche and Suzue hubs are often overlooked in terms of quality vs price as well. |
Please see my previous post number 8400. Thanks.

Hey Scrod, I just realized that when I get my new Soma Rush frameset, it will be the first time in over 30 years that I've needed to cut a threaded fork steerer tube. I know that when I cut the last one I used a hacksaw, but I wondered if it would be possible or even advisable to use a pipe cutter. How exactly do you do this ? I was thinking that if I use a hacksaw, I could first screw on some old headset parts to act as a guide to get a square cut, and to help reform the threads when they were removed after cutting.
I've always just use a hacksaw and a one of these but I'm sure you could do the same with a headset part to keep the saw blade straight. |

I don't have one of these pouches but that looks like a great way to use 'em.

Hey Scrod. Where is the new shop in SD? I'll be down there next week and I'll see if I can stop by.

Thanks. Great area.

Scrod,
So I'm a student at SDSU and I have to do a project for my retail marketing class. I have to choose a product category and compare how it is sold in 3 different retail formats. I chose bikes and bike supplies for my product category and the different retail formats I'll be looking into are a specialty bike store (Retrogression), a sports store (Sports Authority), and either a department store like (Sears) or a discount store like (Target). I have to interview a manager or owner in each of these stores and ask questions about products, sales, promotions, deliveries, etc that have to do with their bike department. My question to you: May I use your store for my project? And if so may I either interview you sometime in your store or just send you a list of the questions to answer, whichever you prefer? It'd be a big help but I understand if you say no. Thanks for your time Scrod, and I look forward to a reply. Michael |
Of course! Do me a favor and send me a list of questions so I can get a feel for what you'll be asking, then stop by sometime and I'll talk your ears off.

awesome, how should i send you the questions? I can't pm on here. Should I send it through your website? Also, some of the questions seem stupid or hard to answer. If you don't know answers, guesses are fine and i can leave some blank as well. |
By the way, maybe tomorrow I can come in. My project is due monday. haha, whoops, guess I waited too long.
|
Yeah, e-mail them through the contact page on the site.
Angie & I will both be here from 10-4 tomorrow so feel free to come in. Bring donuts. |

We're not picky.

You only show the H+Son Archetypes going up to 32 hole but their website has them in 36h. Considering I'll need a front hub and spokes (got the rear, that S3X), can you get the 36h rims or am I better off buying from the factory and getting the hubs/spokes from you?

36h are not currently available from US distributors.
