Dear Scrod, I just noticed you added an All City Thunderdome to your list of bikes.....pics? or did I miss it posted? Thanks.

Scrodzilla 08-07-14 08:37 AM

Patience is a virtue.

Shotland 08-07-14 08:49 AM

Got it. Thanks Dave!

Why don't you stock Nature Boys?

Scrodzilla 08-07-14 08:55 AM

No prob.

We don't stock the Nature Boy, Mr Pink or Macho Man but have ordered them for a few local customers. In case you hadn't noticed, the shop tends to stick with track/fixed gear stuff.

Hi Scrod,

I was planning on buying some Pasela PT (wire bead) tires. You noted in the past that Paselas run a little small (http://www.bikeforums.net/singlespee...l#post12519423). Do you feel this is still the case? My current tires are both 700 X 28C and I like how the bike feels and handles. I primarily use my bicycle (fixed gear) for commuting and errands (<5 mile rides for the most part), I weigh 165lbs (headed lower), and I'm in decent shape...not sure if any of that stuff matters. In your new All-City Thunderdome build I see you put a 25 on the front and a 28 on the back. As such, what sizes would you recommend?

Thank you for your help.

Dear Scrod,

I've got a 2013 Leader 725 complete I'm very happy with, but money burns in my pocket.

What would you upgrade first? (already have a new saddle and bars)

Or should I just shut up and enjoy it for a while?

Sincerely,

A dumb bastard

I can't realistically tell you what tire size you'll like better but I've come to really like bigger tires. The ride is nicer, handling is great, they look cool and I feel like I can run **** over all day long.

In my experience 23/25c Pasela PTs run a little narrow. The 28c currently on my bike measures 28.2mm wide by 26.6mm tall on my digital caliper.

If you've already got new bars and a saddle (which are the first things I would replace on that bike), I would spring for better wheels. Those stock wheels are boat anchors.

Scrod, I've been riding my #kilott for a few months now mostly as a commuter. But, looking to put in some longer rides. However, the stock gearing (44x16) leaves me spinning on any flats longer than a few blocks. Looking to put a cog on the other side. I ride mostly in and around the NYC metro area which for the most part in relatively flat with the occupational long minor grade hill. What size cog do you suggest?

Scrodzilla 08-12-14 12:28 PM

Are you sure your Kilo came with a stock 44t chainring? Every one I've ever seen has been 48t.

I hadn't counted the teeth myself. But from bikesdirect.com "Alloy forged track, 165mm, 44Tx1/2x3/32, 43.5 chainline, 144 bcd"

Seems the pro and stripper model list as having 48t.

Scrodzilla 08-12-14 12:52 PM

Well, I'll be damned. They must've changed it.

If it were my bike, I'd look into getting bigger chainring and experimenting from there. Bigger gears are quieter, smoother and don't wear as quickly.

Scrod, any news on the 2015 722 Heritage? I've contacted Leader through several different methods and no response about a 2015 Heritage. A few online shops that carried them has told me they haven't received any news about a 2015 722 and others have said they don't plan to carry anymore 722 in the future. My local bike shops told me they can (pre)order (2012 model) one for me but they haven't received a response from Leader as well.

Scrodzilla 08-12-14 01:34 PM

How can any shop possibly tell you they can pre-order a three year old frame?

As far as I know, Leader has no plans of discontinuing the Heritage Edition. Also FWIW, this was just talked about on the previous page.

Any suggestions? Now's your chance to plug a Retrogression deal. :thumb:

If you like sex then build up some tb14's. They simply look like sex.

50voltphantom 08-12-14 02:13 PM

Scrod - I see you put TB14's on the Thunderdome. Any thoughts on the merits of the tb14's vs Archetypes? I'm looking to get new wheels this winter and am considering both as they appear to be excellent rims. Road riding/commuting are my primary uses.

Yeah you said that Leader is expected to ship out the 722 mid august-september, however I'm hearing from these other shops (in store/online) that they won't carry 722 or haven't heard anything about a 2015 model. One shop said they can they "preorder" it for me directly from Leader but it will be a 2012 model so I said to myself "preorder a 3 year old frame? either that doesn't make any sense to me or 2015 722 will not exist". Hesitating between waiting until Leader releases a 2015 722 or if I should buy used from local craiglist, the latter has a ticking time clock. I don't want to be stuck come september without a frame. Just wanted to see if you had any new updates about it.

Just got official word from Leader that there will be no 2015 Heritage Edition or Heritage LO frames until a slight redesign is complete. ETA is not known.

just the ones on retrogression? I've been stalking your site for any White or Black frame in size 51cm(maybe pushing it a little with a 53cm but I'll make it work) since you guys offer a better deal than all shops. Was hoping to buy it from your site along with the 805 fork so I can request it assembled.

Scrodzilla 08-12-14 06:07 PM

Unless you ride a 55cm, you're **** out of luck.
