Scrod,
I see you ride with toe clips/straps. Why do you prefer them over velcro straps? Just kind of looking for the pro/cons.

This has been addressed before. He tried it once but didn't like wearing special shoes.

Painfully average.
Dave, should I buy this: https://www.bikesdirect.com/incredibl..._framesets.htm
used as a beater bike. I'm short on funds though. Part of me says its a good idea so that I'll have a bike I can ride in the rain and all that bull****, but another part of me says I'll drop more money into it than it's worth. It is crmo though, but I'm going to have to buy or find more than half of the components that it doesn't come with.

^Damn, man. I wish I knew where to look for that kind of ****. I'll just start riding around and looking in the dumpsters behind bike shops.

The absolute best for me has been my local Salvation Army. $10-30 bikes that I spy on the day before half price day, get there when doors open and rejoice.

Of all the times I've ridden my bike in Oakland and Davis, I've only found abandoned pink/purple Mongoose. fuuuuuu

Nope. I did for a long time but quit about 5 years ago. It wasn't difficult at all...I just decided I didn't want to smoke anymore, so I didn't.
Whenever I see someone struggling with quitting smoking, I really don't understand. All it takes is some discipline.
Another thing that made it easy is the realization of the industry I was helping to support, how much money it cost me and what I was potentially doing to my own body. I'm a tough mother****er and I'll be damned if something as stupid as cigarettes would be the thing that brings me down.
