in general, on a frame proper sized for me[58cm-59cm square, tho i prefer a 'taller' frame], im most comfortable on a bike when the 'points' on the hoods are 2-3cm ahead of the front axle. bar height or saddle to bar drop oddly plays almost no role in my comfort[barring a ridiculous aero riding position]. can you[or anyone] explain that?

adriano 09-27-11 06:45 PM

at your height, youre fighting being too cramped, and you have the reach and the strength to handle anything erring on the long side or aggressive side.

Let's give this another go....

The bontrager tires are not going anywhere, I actually like that particular tire.

wait... i cant really see a difference other than the missing sticker on the downtube...
IS THIS A SPOT THE DIFFERENCES GAME? I LOVE THOSE
and I'm failing... :(

Drivetrain is drastically different, went micro drive.

For reference:

New crankset. Different chainring.

Dannihilator 09-27-11 10:15 PM

And different rear cog.

Muffin Man 09-27-11 10:17 PM

I am way too good at this :(

yott 09-27-11 10:54 PM

was gonna wait till I replaced my stem and handlebar setup, but I need procrastination from studying. so here it is...

any other stickers, acetone the stem graphics, silver brake lever, boring rotor
really have to be picky to come up with something! cranks are an improvement.
still badass/10

radial front, trade top for end lever, reach too short right now, saddle too far forward right now, black clamp and post and crank, dirty chain, white saddle, saddle tape mismatch, unwrapped where its actually used
mega classy/10

Hey adriano, I'm really interested in hearing how you could fix that. I do see that his saddle is too far forward (as was mine, thank you), but wouldn't he be too far stretched out on the horns if he had more reach? Or am I totally off the ball right now about what you mean?

illdthedj 09-28-11 10:53 AM

whats wrong with radial front? just curious.

adriano 09-28-11 11:26 AM

move your saddle down and back. the bars will be a bit farther in front of your bum but no farther from your feet. the actual distance from your bum and your hands hasnt changed much since the bars have relatively come up a bit too. you can even afford to lower your bars the same amount as your saddle if you wish, and the same amount of drop will be more comfortable since you now have weight distribution shifted away from your hands. the change in weight distribution is the big thing.

adriano 09-28-11 11:38 AM

just experiment. some are happier with saddle forward weight distribution for the triathlon theyre training for, chode reach for twitchiness, mad aggy drop for aerodynamics, upper torso upright like a sail for aerodynamics, elbows locked out for arthroscopics, track racing issue drops used only for checking ones knee reflex, white rims to match your belt, black cranks to match your bleeding soul, and all the cred in the world.

adriano 09-28-11 11:46 AM

more than 24 radial spokes is like wat.

srsly.

yott 09-28-11 02:57 PM

yeah i just changed out my seatpost so i'm still trying to find that sweetspot. i'll do what you said and move the saddle back and lower the stem. if all else fails, i have a bike fitting in san diego that i have yet to make time for, suppose to be pretty legit.

adriano 09-28-11 06:40 PM

id just leave the stem while messing with the seat down and back to limit the variables. also, take note of your original position first so you can get back if needed.

dk2ck 09-28-11 10:16 PM

I guess I'll try.

I could use some constructive criticism as well. I am all over the map with this thing changing rims, risers to drops, all different color parts and clipless to clips and straps.

After riding it around, I feel that a longer stem would actually feel better.
