Do people use steel on the track? Yes I assume. I'll have a Wabi classic built up here in a few weeks. Never been to the track before and I don't have enough money to just build an extra strictly track bike. I'll need to buy some drops too since I've only ever owned horns.

Keirin bikes are steel and raced on the track.
There is a continental road team(Madison Genesis) that uses steel bikes; does very well in single day races and criteriums.
Meanwhile, have you ever seen longer flats on a handlebar than on these Phillips Professionel handlebars on this 1950's Rene Herse SS?

Love the bike but hate that saddle.
Most cinelli saddles are hatchets; that's a volare on that laser.
Its cousin, the volare SLX is borderline tolerable however. Being the bastard child of a turbo and a concor.

new unicanitors are like, hard, right? ive heard. i have a seventies on, with foam padding and leather, the shell is actually very flexible, i know if this one didnt even have the padding it'd still be great, esp. in hot weather when the seats even MORE flexy. but yeah i heard the new ones were rock hard and the only padded one has some dumb art on it

everyone bought them in the first place, only certain deadstock or weird stitching ones are rare, you can get used unicanitors everywhere for years from now. never pay more than 50 for one, if you can help it. i want one of those 60's ones that are like green or peach color? those rule
i like old unica nitors, concors, turbos mostly. ive seen some great looking old brooks pros. im gonna try an smp sometime

I was talking in a general sense and addressing the common perception among people viewing them as "rare" due to their uncommonness.
Put in comparison with say turbos and concors, cinelli saddle numbers (combined*) are a far cry from just a single one of those.
Another thing to ask is why were cinelli's saddles discontinued at one point? Why wasn't there continuous production to the modern day with modern offerings sharing direct design and features from their predecessors?
Display/ show bikes aside, how many cinelli saddles have seen in the wild being ridden on? We all know MASH is in bed with cinelli and none of their riders sport a cinelli saddle or a promo pic with one. Not even their sponsored riders riding all of those "best of" bikes.
Even the promo shots for & public display of their heralded and legendary laser frameset revive sported either a turbo or regal with the logos conveniently blacked out.

But there are modern cinelli saddles today? Look closer, they're made by prologo.

weird. every plastic shelled saddle ive ever tried was always pretty hard but this one old unicanitor #3 i got is flexible as heck. i mean id rather be on a brooks pro but this ones way lighter
i dont really like new cinelli stuff that much any way, or any of their other saddles. at least they still make 1a stems and 66 bars, yeah!

hmm well i'd have the straps only through the first part of the buckle, with strap buttons, i i cant tighten them up. then flex might not be an issue. but, heard. i've never had nylon cages, but they look comfyyyy.
