50 hot, sunny miles yesterday.

Unkle Rico 08-28-16 09:59 AM

About 2/3 down from the top of Lookout Mountain -- ~2,220 ft of climbing in under 5miles.

On my first ride with my road bike, my friend thought it was a good idea to try Lookout. I've only ridden fixed on city streets for about 10 years. Never tried a climb. Never tried that long of distance.

I got to there before giving up.

Granted, I rode 22 miles just to get to the base of Lookout. It's my goal to make it to the top by the end of the year. That was my first attempt, and climbing is NOT my specialty. But try, try again.

lubes17319 08-29-16 10:15 AM

^Good job, you'll get there!

Used to ride out to Golden to do Lookout occasionally when we lived beside Cheesman Park...going up weren't too bad, but descending it on the FG was sketchy in places! And then the ride back home was always so slow & demoralizing.

Unkle Rico 08-29-16 08:12 PM

Yea, theres no way i'd even try doing Lookout on FG -- I like my knees to much.

Hello Rapidray.

I'm up in Acworth.

The road is called Seven Hills Connector on the Cobb/Paulding border. It was constructed to support many subdivisions which will displace the greenery you see. Right around the curve is a subdivision under construction. I wanted to capture the field of flowers before it goes away.

Have you ridden out of Sosbee or the brewery? Doing the BBC?

I do the Silver Comet Trail mostly, but Seven Hills isn't that faraway so I will have to check it out.
Sosbee and the brewery I have not done, but twisting my arm isn't that hard.

If you ride a Roo then you might like the brewery or Sosbee. Lots of likeminded people train there.
