Bikes: yes

Spent some quality time with some close family in Ithaca. Brought the singlespeed baby mover in hopes of getting a chill ride in with my kid, ended up going out while he was napping and getting some twisty hills on with the missus and some cousins.
Note to self: gears on the next baby mover.

Ithaca sure is purty though. Took one last panoramic on our way out, bieks packed up.

Bikes: 1985 Cannondale SR300, 1987 Canonndale SR800 Black Lightning, 1988 Cannondale SR500 TEAM CREST,1992 Schwinn Paramount PDG Series 3, Volume V6 Cutter,

Yesterday I started the conversion of my 1988 Cannondale SR500 Team Crest from shimano 105 1050 (black) series to Shimano 105 5700 (black) series. Does anyone else have to fully set up a bike the second a new part comes in, even though in about 6 days you have to redo everything when the next part comes in? Anyway I then took it for a 40 mile test spin in the Kansas 100 degree heat with 22-25mph wind. The final build plan for the bike is : 105 5700 series, cranks, derailleurs, brake calipers. Im keeping the down tube shifters but will switch them to black. Im then switching out the wheel set to something that is just very functional and affordable like Shimano RS20 black. I am then adding a Thomson seat post and a Fizik Antares Versus. Lastly I have an extra stem that Im powder coating black just to balance out the bike. Right now it looks a little strange but im 100% sure it will be amazing when done. (I wont post again until shes complete I know you guys hate that haha)

Thats the biggest debate ive had with the build. I sold off my modern bikes last year and have been on down tubes for a year now. Im just really used to it now. Also I dont really like the way the cable routing looks when converting from down tubes. We will see though.

it looks the same as when the bike came with sti's......the shifters will come with downtube bosses like so..

Yeah I just think it looks weird, idk why aesthetically it just bugs me. Most modern bikes route the cable lower beneath the down tube. Not to mention internal routing. Just feel its a cleaner look with the down tubes.

That cabin looks rad.

Richpool, I would keep the DT shifters. I'm assuming your bike is 6 speed, if that is the case I would change to 7 or even 8 if possible (you probably have a freewheel so a new wheel would be in order, although 6 speed Uniglide does exist). 7 speed index shifters can be had but 8 speed DTs not so much. Friction 8 speed is easy though.

Built in 1921 by Frank Ecklund (1874-1941) of Georgetown, CO.
Sits at 11,500'-ish, and is used mainly by back-country skiers.

Usually a steep HaB up a crik, or descend from the tundra above (which we did this time).
